1/3 for me - a late posting from March. This one is from Portugal, on the beach between Sines and Setubal.

Re: Scottish Bothy Bible by Geoff Allan
Although I have only met Geoff a couple of times, I feel I know him a lot better as I have been hearing stories about him for the past 12 years. He is good friends with two of the families in Edinburgh that we are also friends with and I have heard nothing but good things about the man. I am sure th...

Ok, I will give it a try then. It is usually the boy's job to inflate the mats every night and I can just see him moaning about using the bag.

Re: The post man's been ...
Well I am sure you have all been on the edge of your seats, wondering how I would find mats in time for our Portugal trip to replace the ones the numpty courier lost last week..... Ta dah.... http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh518/Borderer13/IMG_20170302_112439637_zps0nhnte15.jpg A big recommenda...

I read that as Rab Fridge Raider - appropriate if it is on the heavy side.biggaygibbon wrote:Looking at getting lighter bivy than my Rab Ridge Raider.

Yes, my son is more pleased about the camo than I am I guess it would be good if you were just sleeping under a tarp and wanted to keep a low profile.
Fluffy force is a good one. You can find some cracking Chinglish descriptions on eBay.

Re: Sleeping bag recommendations please
Just thought I would come back and update this thread to let you know what I bought in the end, in case it helps anyone else. I found someone selling goose down 2-3 season bags new on Ebay and got them for £55 each. They have temp ratings of +3, -2, -18C and are very lightweight at only 890g (confir...

Re: Kids bikes
I got a Boardman Sport E bike for my son. His is a 26in wheeler, but I don't know if they do smaller sizes. Its an ali frame and has all the proper kid-specific geometry like Isla bikes do ie shorter cranks, narrower bars etc. I have been really pleased with it (and so has he). It was £300 new from ...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Thanks, yes, I saw one of those somewhere in my frantic browsing this afternoon and thought it looked interesting. Good make and lightweight too. No insulation as you say but then I wouldn't need it for this trip or going away for the summer. Scotland at any time of the year is a different matter th...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
A little while ago I was asking about down sleeping bags and Stu linked to a Mountain Equipment one that was a very good price at Taunton Leisure. While I was thinking about it they sold out, but I got an email from them today saying that they have one back in stock (presumably a customer return). I...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Thanks Stu, it's hard to tell as they don't publish the width at the foot, but it's possible. 840g though! The guy at the shop I bought the hyperlites from is going to phone round his suppliers on Monday to see if he can find me a couple of replacements, if not I will have to go for something ...

Re: I want to make a camera strap like this one
Interesting ideas, thanks. I like the idea of a stem pod of some sort - I hadn't thought of that. As a result of all these answers I now know that the thing I am looking for is a camera sling, rather than a strap, and armed with this knowledge I tried ebay again and found this: http://i1249.photobuc...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
No, but I am slightly desperate! I ordered two of the Hyperlites that you reviewed last year and the numpty courier lost them today. He delivered them to the wrong house somewhere but he doesn't know where. They were the last two that I can find online at something less than stupid price. We fly out...
