Re: BB200 route.

For the November group

The surface is 100% rideable.
The gradient not necessarily so in a few places.

Probably the most gravel bike friendly bb route I’ve ridden.
Though a hardtail would be more fun on the single track and technical downhill.

Re: BB200 route.

Leaving soton shortly.

For anyone driving tonight, are there any plans to meet anywhere?

I’m going to sleep in the car park near (what was) the star.

Re: BB200 route.

Theres an option to do a 4k or so detour at 125.5k, but the shop in the town closes at 8pm, so i imagine that youll have to be on the faster side to reach it in time. I plan on getting a supply pack at the Community Cafe, and drinking river water from there on out! have seen a few off-route places ...

anything at 100 to 120 ish km?
a few pubs that i might ask for snacks

as has been mentioned, might be a case of carrying all necessary food

Not too give too much away for the November riders, but there is a part time - community cafe open at 59.2k. I have dropped them a message and they are going to be prepared for hungry riders...Its CASH ONLY though as its a community cafe run by voluneters, so be prepared. £5 for botomless coffee / ...

I looked at the route and thought “stu’s going soft”

I reserved the right to alter my opinion at 3am next Sunday.

Epic will likely whisper “stop being soft”

just wasn't for me.

Re: New GPS ideas please.

Why not simply carry some spare AA batteries? I used to happily do just that. Then I thought how wasteful it was ecologically never mind the cost of the lithiums. In a Garmin Oregon 700 there is a small rubber dimple between the batteries, might be on other Oregon xx0 models cut a small piece of ca...

Re: I need to get familiar with intercity train travel

Travelled many times with a bike on a train. The experience varies. Cross county is the most frustrating. Had to bike book a ticket on the phone, but not a good idea to book seat until bike sorted. So have to do both together. Only a few spaces. Bike has to hang from rear wheel. Take extra straps to...

Re: Dartmoor 200. September 18th

Only a couple of days to go. Weather forecast is not too shabby with the temp set to stay well in the teens even at night, light winds and no significant rain risk until Sunday afternoon. It’ll only be 2 nights away from a full moon and we’ve got nearly 12hours of nighttime. Sunset 19:20 Saturday a...

Re: Moors One Hundred DATE CHANGE ON P3

Rather than trying to turn a gravel bike into a mountain bike.

buy a mountain bike and embrace the dark side.

As for larger cassette.
A smaller chainring would be cheaper means to achieve lower gearing without the possible need for a new rear mech.
