Yup. Nurse giving me my booster last month ‘confirmed’ It. Fortunately nothing presenting from that one

I had physio too, and no. Still not 100% but nothing to stop me Cycling (well after April/May last year as it was pretty bad).

Re: 2023 - Plans, rides and things to look forward to

I started this year with a frozen shoulder (dodgy injection most likely) which made cycling impossible for the first 1/3rd of the year at least (and stopped all mtb for 6 months). I then had my work situation finally catch up with me leaving me ‘zombified ‘ and being signed off for 6 weeks. Least cy...

Re: What are you listening to now?

one of those songs I knew pretty much all of the lyrics to (I'd like to say all but there's a couple of lines in the middle that for some reason were either incomprehensible or just refused to stick in my head ) and even now, at 55, I can still sing along It’s Banned From the Roxy for me. I am 57.....

Re: What are you listening to now?

After my sister quoted Nick Cave (Wings off flies) on WhatsApp the other week I’ve been playing the first 5 Bad Seed albums a lot. I’d forgotten how much I used to play them and they felt like old friends whose company you naturally and easily slip into. It’s a little worrying that Mercy Seat (still...

Re: So this is who lights fires ...

I have nothing really constructive to add to this (but that has never stopped me before). Two things this reminds me of: a) that NTNoCN sketch - come home to a real fire, buy a cottage in Wales And b) those clothes are very Combat Rock era. 40-odd years ago idve been all over that like a tramp on ch...

Re: Bar harnesses - recommendation

I also have a Revelate harness. I like the way the mount blocks gives a bit of space for the cables and brake hoses can thread through (mostly through the middle between the bar blocks). And the headtube strap easy to fix too (but use frame protection). This also stands stuff off both the bars and h...

Living in country with more enlightened attitudes to access I can only stand back and watch on bemused.

On a more positive note thanks for the link to fit for adventure’s ‘channel’ (sorry, have to stick quotes around it) I like her.

Well DPD actually (or whatever man and white van is fronting for them in the North) and on Tuesday delivered a stunning Froggatt Green mk3 Cotic SolarisMAX. Most surprising was it was picked in Sheffield on Monday and deliver to me (north of Inverness) Tuesday pm. That is a first, time before last t...

Re: Recommend me a new hardtail

I have a medium mk1 Solaris (which I used for starting off bikepacking), I then had a SolarisMAX mk1 (non LLS/longshot geo) which I built up specifically for bikepacking and ran B+ and a size bigger (large) for all BAM the year I completed it. Zero complaints about on that score. I also had a New Ge...

Im looking forwards to raising a ‘glass’ in toast to the good news re Scotroutes mrs (and preferably in association with a bivvy, seen as I did not do a single one last year...). Do some bivvys (obvs). But first get some semblance of fitness back (having spent the previous decade perfecting my hermi...

Music For Film And Theatre by polish pianist Hania Rani. Helps me find (and keep) a semblance of calm... I did it second week September in ‘17 which coincided with the tail end of the US hurricane season... On the plus side I got an early start as after an hour spent holding the pole up on the Lunar solo at 4am I gave up and started to pack up so was on the road by 5 (and had no problem catching the fi...

Next time I traverse the interior (will be my 6th time), I'll do it wearing just a lab coat and high heels. Because I can and 'cause I need to impress Mr. Metalheart. If it’s to impress me (please don’t prejudge how I identify) the lab coat’ll need to be tweed (obvs). And them shoes best be shiney ...

why compare? "Ohhh... those were the real hard boys" kind of bs is more off putting for me than any pretentious video about what is a holiday jaunt for some. Well, somebody edited them in. I couldn’t but help it. It was staring me in the face... I didn’t say they were hard (or otherwise)....

Re: Bike/raft packing ‘58 style

One thing that struck me was how I felt more kinship to Ron (and, indeed to the suited and booted Mr Doll) than the R@pha bods that, to me, looked wholly underprepared. The RSF boys and aforementioned Mr Doll look like they had actually enjoyed it. R@pha crew looked like they were being paid for a j...
