spare tent poles

Hi guys

This is a bit left field but my old (ish) Blacks Tent needs a new pole (3.5m), is there somewhere easy to get hold of one? It's a big heavy cheap tent I use for holidays, not expeditions, so they can be cheap and heavy!

Thanks

Re: summer sleeping setup?

The last 2 nights I tried sleeping in just my synthetic jacket and legwarmers (in a bivi bag but that was just to try and keep the bugs off*) but I woke up a bit cold in the legs. I'm thinking one of those half sleeping bags might be a good solution. I had to unzip the jacket a bit! (*it's a Rab one...

Have a good weekend everybody. Just a boring normal weekend here in NL!

The Bike Show Podcast of the event last year is what drew me to the forum.

Re: Sleeping Mats - What and where to carry

As of the weekend I have and Exped AirMat which goes into a 13l Drybag on the front, into which I also put my sleeping bag, bivi bag and the shorts I sleep in. I will ad that with a lot of sleeping mats i ve found that folding them into different shapes can make them easier to pack rather than only ...

Re: Taking your bike on the train

Great Western you have to book a ticket, THEN ring up the station and book the bike (though I have gotten away with it)

(Holland it's a flat Eur 6.10 to go anywhere, but not at peak times)

Ok got you.

Have to say having had a night that was close to being really unpleasant Saturday I'm reconsidering the need for a summer bag. What flipping Summer!

Re: Quilts and bivi bags

Thanks, my concern is not height so much as width as I have big shoulders (L-XL t-shirts) so I want to be sure I can snuggle down nicely - especially as I\m a side sleeper I have just bought an exped airmat so I can go and sleep in the tulips tonight I guess the reality is that I just need to buy on...

Re: Quilts and bivi bags

Norm. When the dimensions of the cumulus quilt is given as 77cm, does that mean the full width or is that with the "sides" tucked under?

Re: Belgian/Dutch Approved Bivi Sites

I'm hoping to head out to one of these this weekend so did a bit of research. There are more in NL - https://sites.google.com/site/paalkampeerders/kaart (there are otehr, less well kept charts that suggest there are even more but it's not easy to tell. It's a tad frustrating as I'm planning on going...

Re: An old company jumps on the bandwagon

Depends what you re doing on the trip obviously but my Koala is not really big enough for a short, but multi day trip. One big problem I have is that because I'm a short arse (though at 173cm I'm not THAT much of a short arse), I don't have much room in/on the frame. There was an instagram of an Ope...

Re: An old company jumps on the bandwagon

The prices Ive seen look like they vaguely match Apidura pricing ~ perhaps a little more The best thing about Apidura over Alpkit however is that they have stuff in stock! I want to like Alpkit but it's taken a month to get hold of a joey and a dry bag (in a colour that isnt rancid) so i ve given mo...

Re: Quilts and bivi bags

The spark or the ember (the ember does tn seem to be very common in Europe)

I'm not sure I can stretch to a custom bag quite yet. Plus I think i need to do a lot more actual biking to decide what I'd need

Quilts and bivi bags

Hi guys Another noob question sorry  I was looking at quilts as in general I am a hot sleeper and so would really appreciate the venting possibilities a quilt would offer. However It occurred that in a bivi bag this could be limited anyway. Further, at the other end of the temperature scale, F...

Re: An old company jumps on the bandwagon

(it's not worth starting a new thread for this question so I ll use this one) Does the extra rigidness help with bags? I ask as I'm a short ass and so I don't have a lot of room in the frame for bags. Hence I need to use seat/handlebar packs a lot more. I had some issues on my first trip with the al...

Re: Outdoor skills

The parents always took us out of camping/climbing/walking holidays in the Alps when my sister and I were nippers (and on into teenagers I suppose) and by doing things like 10 Tors I learnt how to deal with being outside carrying my own stuff, navigation etc. That said I couldnt build a shelter at a...
