Re: Driver psychology, 1 answer to road space? (MYOG content

Not necessarily relevant but I've felt there's a better attitude towards me when running with a full pannier touring setup than when I'm in lycra roadie mode, my road manners are the same but there seems to be more forgiveness/less conflict if I'm in hobo mode not recreational why the feck are you i...

Re: route plaaner for europe?

cycling-challenge.com not a route planner but a great resource for cols and what to expect, I've got a week near AdH planned off the back of using Will's recommendations.

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

Brutal and savage! Scratched after Elan and rode 30k back to the start, knew I didn't have another 200k in me. Wow that lake gravel section though, want to do that again! Nice to meet chris n and littlegirlbunny at the control, although I didn't know who you were at the time (chris this might be whe...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

25mm Michelin Pro4 Endurance — that's what I have for road, and I'm not riding 400km on a mountain bike. Bear in mind that there's only about 25km of gravel on the 400 by the routesheet (the GPX goes a different route with about another 4km of completely benign track), and so won't make a lot of di...

Re: CRC have stolen Stu's motto

Not with any intent to devalue the BB use of this, just an interest in IP and slogan use, advertising and stuff like that. It's a phrase that's been around a while in motorbike circles but not sure where it started. Fair to say it's a BB motto though, has been as long as i remember bikepacking in t...

Re: the pub bivy, obviously don't bank on it; we got lucky in that we'd spent enough, the temporary manageress was a massive flirt and more than a bit saucy with it and took a shine to one of the group (we never did find out if he slept indoors!), your mileage may vary, have a backup plan :D

Re: Travel Insurance

https://www.campbellirvinedirect.com/cidirect_activitieswecover.htm Used these a few times but never had to claim. £41 for 10 days seems not bad and the 2k equipment cover is about right for me should the baggage chuckers get over-zealous. I'd go uninsured but the event requires it so the two main ...

Travel Insurance

Any recommendation for wallet friendly bike specific or otherwise short trip European cover? I'll be needing it for TNR but also seems sensible to have for another trip I'm doing in July.

looking at ghetto 46/30 using a mtb triple crankset with just two rings, although there was a release yesterday from Easton that will also get consideration. Re: Torino nice who's doing it this yr

I'm a maybe. What's the overall trip length, i.e. how many days are people generally overseas for? I'd say ignore the distance completely, it's not the constraint to progress on this kind of ride, and look instead only at the 20,000m total climbing. If from past experience you know how many loaded ...
