Re: FS Rockshox Reba RL 29er 120mm

Interested, but wary of stanchion wear on old forks. How much have these been ridden?

Any chance of closer-up photos showing the stanchions near the wiper seals, front and back? Or, ideally, of the stanchions with the lowers pulled down 50 mm

WTD: Rigid forks for Surly Karate Monkey

Anyone have rigid forks that will fit a Karate Monkey that they want to shift?

Looking to get a bit more carrying capacity!

Cheers

Re: what "back-up" items do you take?

A modern phone is a very capable GPS,in fact I sold my garmin and use my iPhone as it's better. Get a dynamo hub and a battery, it will almost keep up with power needs on its own. I don't take any duplicate items apart from changing leads as they fail without any warning. wow! are you never paranoi...

found this, https://www.outdooractive.com/en/mountain-bike/bosnia-and-herzegovina/via-dinarica-mtb/21568235/#dm=1 maybe a good source for more info: http://www.viadinarica.com/ Yeah, from reading through a lot of that, it seems the white trail is a hiking trail, but there should be a route called V...

Re: Via Dinarica - Albania to Slovenia

Oh so what I have is a gpx of the Via Dinarica white trail, which is apparently a 690 mile hiking route. I can't find any information about whether bikes are allowed on the trails or not though.

I managed to find a gpx for the route when I started looking into it a while ago. I don't know anything about the quality of the route though. PM me if you want it.

About 200,000 feet in total, which my shonky maths says is 740 feet (225 metres) per 100 miles.
That seems like remarkably little elevation, doesn't it?

WTD: Lightweight inflatable sleeping mat

Was about to order an Exped HyperLite, but I thought I'd check if any of you have something similar knocking about which you want to get rid of.

I am 5'11" so looking for a medium size in most brands

Re: pre-trip worries?

More when I'm asleep. I'm constantly on edge for noise. Have never got more than a few hours sleep outdoors. I had this last summer in the america for the first week, couldn't sleep at all for fear of bears (only black bears around, no food in tent, 0 risk). The way I got over it was to sit there a...

Re: Tour Divide 2016

I've handed in my notice at work, so I will now officially be available to do the Tour Divide. Slightly worried that I don't have a job to come back to, but hope to have that sorted before I fly off to N. America in 4 weeks time! Next problem is that the bike I'm planning to ride has a knackered sq...

Re: Framebag width?

I was planning on a full bag, since the traingle in this bike is pretty small anyway due to a sloping top tube. If it's a small triangle, I wouldn't use a divider. In fact, I can generally fit more in a Wildcat Ocelot than I can in a full frame bag on the same bike ... and still use a bottle. Why d...

Re: Framebag width?

Full frame bag or partial? That will make a big difference. I have a partial frame bag that Beth made for me which is 65mm wide, and am just having another half abg made (for a different bike) which is 95mm wide - still only bout the same width as a bottle cage. For a full frame bag I'd personally ...

Framebag width?

I'm in the business of getting an Alpkit custom framebag for my bike (Surly Karate Monkey Ops) but I'm unsure about what width to go for. Perhaps its a bit of a subjective thing to ask, but does anyone have any advice on the matter. If not which size to go for, then how to choose which size to go fo...
