Re: Silly question of the day
Not sure about the lipping next to Mike! That aside I can remember a company withdrawing from sale their tunnel bivi because when the door was closed the co2 levels became too high. Can't remember who they were though. Seeing others wake up in what looks like a sauna I'd go for the ventilation optio...

Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan (non biking)
Hi all, NB: this is for a non biking trip! But any experience from the wise, & not so wise but experienced gratefully appreciated. We (Mrs C & me) are hoping to go Uzbekistan & the general area in October. We have 2-3 weeks & want some culture, trekking & chilling. The latter may...

Re: Dales Divide.
Must be something in the air. I'd felt sub standard since midday, threw up at Feizor, felt better but no energy. Camped near Malham Tarn. Slept for 10 hours and then had a pleasant ride back.
Oh well, it'll still be there.

looking at
gpsies it says 9000m - https://m.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=wezrqhwqgmacjfzs
viewranger has 5000m - https://my.viewranger.com/route/details/MjI2MDUwMg==
I suspect gpsies might be the correct one !

Cheers guys.
Assuming I survive the DD and don't go blind from sub standard in my eyes this weekend I think I'll get some ordered.

Prescription cycling glasses for the older and very short sighted
Age :56, prescription - 8 + slight stigmatism I've used lenses for year but now doing more multi day stuff, occasionally get sub standard in, dirty everything at the end of a long day, and struggling to read phones especially when tired. So I am thinking of trying some prescription specs. The addida...

purple extreme - chain oil - any users
a work colleague mentioned this to me the other day.
http://www.purpleextreme.com/pe.html
Do any of the BB collective use it & how does it compare with the likes of either a pure dry wax like squirt or a more 'normal' chain oil.
does it live up to it's hype ?

@redefinedcycles, as your presumably a local you might like this alternative to the MTL for a change.

Quite a lot of MTL involved

Re: Merino, or other base layers?
I have a merino and hate it with a vengeance for cycling in cos of the cold damp feeling but it makes a great in tent post ride top.
My base layer of choice is a polartec 100 canondale cycling specific top I bought about 25 years ago. So good I bought a second. I wish I'd bought 20.

Thx. Seen them but never knew the name.
Whilst dozing on the train I came up with the idea of two tie wraps and a cord leash.

Securing an alpkit boson torch
Just taken delivery of an alpkit boson.
The standing in the garden test and the beam looks great.
The only issue I have so far is that it comes with no loop to attach a lead so it does not drop off.
Has anyone bodged one?

Bar tape recommendations for loop bars
So my new PX bars have arrived.
I'll be using ergo grips at the pointy ends.
Any particular bar tape recommendations please?
I'll go with Black though.

@sean.
My email (as I read it) specifically said you had to start and finish using the same ratio.
Nothing about what you have during the event
But I'll be geared anyway.
