Thanks Phil, that was the next route I was going to look at.
I'll keep an eye out for someone called Sparky! Should be a good week and since it's through work I'm still getting paid and my travel costs covered as well!

Thanks Colin, I'll avoid it then. May just head right along the road and up to the bothy instead

Re: Mallaig to Loch Eil
I haven't cycled that but I've walked up a bit from the station to the high point of the path. Rough. Also - take the coast road from Mallaig, not the fancy-shmansy motorway  Best avoided then Colin? Don't want to be too burst turning up for a week of outdoor activities! Yeah I'd planned on t...

Mallaig to Loch Eil
I'm off to do an Outward bound course at Loch Eil in September as an Employee Ambasador for my company. Thinking of getting the train up to Mallaig on the Saturday and cycling down there for Sunday night. Anyone ridden this section near Arisaig? Just wondering if it's rideable or not? From there it ...

What are peoples views on things like meths stoves in weather like this? Surely even those present quite a fire risk. Bivvied out near Strathyre last weekend we decided to use the stove on the bike track rather than in the field we were camping in due to how dry it was. Good thing we did as Gill ma...

Re: Close encounters with the wild kind!
Cycling up into Glen Lyon from Killin at the tail end of last year I had to go through the middle of a herd of Highland cattle, one of the calfs bolted up the road in front of me and it's mum started to chase me, so began 2 miles of me chasing the calf and being chased by the cow until eventually th...

Re: Bivi bag & condensation
I'll add to that if you have a tent, don't bother with the bivvy bag. If you have issues with the foot of the bag getting damp from condensation on the tent skin, consider making a little dcf (or sil or whatever works for you) cover to slip over the foot of your bag. Wait, do people generally use b...

Me and my mate Tommy, somewhere about Pitlochry on a week long trip from Thurso to Fife we wern't bikepackers, we had 2 panniers full of sub standard each but we felt like we were bikepackers! I'm glad TLS has featured in my packing since then! https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1785/28487750527_2f9b5cb...

Joined here Nov 15, proceeded to go on the Scottish Winter Bivvy the next month, no idea why I kept doing it after that missearble night but I did and I'vce bivvied out every month since! Love the forum and the fact it showed me I wasn't the only weirdo that liked cycling around the hills camping!

Looks like a close race at the front of the 350 with only a few miles seperating the front 3! Good going in that heat over the weekend

It is Ray, bought it riding the borders 220 and I never even made it onto the start line. Never mind, there's always next year!

100ish miles planned this weekend up to Killin and back, meeting Gill up there so she can cycle back with me. Looking forward to a couple of nights out

Good luck to all starting tomorrow, I was hoping to ride the 220 but some much needed family time is required after a shitty couple of months. There'll be other years!

Blackburn Outpost seat pack, rather bigger than my Alpkit Tapered bag I use currently but looks like a good bit of kit and should reduce the faffage of taking the Alpkit bag off and re-fitting it. Will test it out this weekend on my BAM with Gill

Interesting. Shall watch this being built - put it in the MYOG section. Will's Bothy
Anyone been to Will's bothy lately? What sort of state is it in? And is there likely to be a rave going on in it? Some friends are heading do to it next weekend and we thought we might join them however by the sounds of it it's a bit run down and uncared for these days. Might try to get them to head...

An hour left of work then we're off to France for a week. No cycling involved but plenty bread, wine and a couple of days at Disney, just what the doctor ordered.
