Re: Dorset / Hampshire

Might be possible although I would need to be at work in Poole for 8am most days. Do you go from work or drive to the NF?

French trip

I'm planning a trip from Bordeaux to narbonne at the end of July anyone been there before? I'm going to use the train to get to the start and back at the end, camping along the way. The canal du midi looks a good start for some traffic free miles. Any tips would be great. Thanks

Re: Impulse buy proves tricky.

I've got the same bag it fits as a rear gas tank. Above the top tube attached to the seat post, only downside is the side zip pocket is upside down but if you are careful gels or bars just slip out into your hand so good for on the go access.

Re: Help me decide on sleeping mat

For the same price you can probably find a thermarest Neoair xtherm. I waited and got one on ebay for £100. It is comfy, really warm and has no down inside to risk getting damp (which is mainly why I chose it over the exped ones). It packs very small for a full sized mat and is one of the lightest I...

Re: Fat Bike Mudguards

I made something similar to firestarter's pic out of a 6 pint milk bottle, put a couple of holes in and zip tied it to the rear brake bridge It worked well but the plastic is a bit floppy. I've been meaning to make another with some strengthening to stop it bending. i'll post a pic when i get round ...

You both continue to be an inspiration. Even before I'd found this forum recently I had seen your blog. Glad he came away unscathed and you finished the 500.

I got knocked off my bike by a van when I was 15 on the way to work experience, and spent the insurance money on a new bike

Great write up! is there any more information about the observatory? I would love to go when it is in Burton Bradstock I've ridden that way from Weymouth before and a night in a bothy would be a great addition.

Work colleague caught lymes in the new forest from a tick. Not nice at all and took a while for a diagnosis.

For stills or an action camera (lots of which take stills as well)? Garmin virb's have been £75 and I bet will be again in the Jan sales.

Re: Bridge camera for around £150?

Following on from what Jackt said the RX100 is available as a lens only to use with your phone. What phone do you have? I think compact cameras and even bridge cameras to an extent are redundant now next to android or iPhones. Sony make http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/cyber-shot-compact-cameras/ds...

Re: Bikepacking in the Lakes, and a short Welsh trip too

Great write up Ben. I've walked your route from Chapel Stile over to Little Langdale and beyond lots of times but you have inspired me to do it on the bike next time. You are the second person this week to tell me about that cave but I've never found it so that is a mission for next time as well. I ...
