My 830 is now permanently bricked after a thorough moistening so this ⬆ is good advice William.

Re: Garmin Screen Protector, do you still bother?
The screen protetctors on my 830 & Oregon 600/700 are looking a bit tired, & instead of replacing them i was wondering if i should even bother. I know the older Garmins needed doing in order to prevent scratches over time causing the screen to look, 'cloudy'. But does anyone know if the scr...

Re: Liner, Quilt, or Better Bag?
I've got the Sea to Summit thermal liner and it's done the job for me. I can use it with my summer bag and base layer/long johns and be warm enough in winter. Half price at the minute if you buy direct https://seatosummit.co.uk/products/thermolite-reactor-liner They do 2 warmer versions than that if...

I have it on good authority that the poster "Wotsits" prefers to use someone with a machine for his hole.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 8:45 pm
If I need to dig a hole, I'll reach for a spade rather than get someone with a machine.

Re: A week outta Chamonix in June?
Any recommendations on routes would be much appreciated. I'd do the TMB anticlockwise then spur off from Orsieres for 2 or 3 days and head further east into Switzerland on the Haute Route - it's stunning and there's some ridiculous riding. You can ride as far east/go over as many cols as time allow...

Maybe. Was going to do the Dales Divide again after bailing on it last year, the summer is getting VERY congested with evets though.

Have you tried the Halfords one?

£20 I've been using one for a couple of years and found it to be more reliable and beter to use than the more expensive Garmin version.

Re: What makes the black dashed line - rideable?
The Kinder plateau is all access land Shaf so you're fine pushing/carrying the bike. Realistically you're unikely to meet many/any people on that bit anyway unless it's the height of summer. I've ridden the black line - some fun trials-y bits of rock to get over and some peaty bog.

Big thanks to both of you and great to see and chat with with you as always.
One of the toughest routes but also one of the best I think - it's probaly the one that will live the longest in the memory and maybe that's the most important thing.

Re: The BB200 Tyre Anxiety Thread
I was Nobby Nic front and Ikon rear for about 5 BB200s, just the right balance imo. Went Ikon front and rear for the covid year and was wishing for a bit more grip up front on a couple of the descents.
3" Chronicle front and XR2 rear this year. Might even do XR2 both ends.

Re: BB200 2023
Oh crap just found the third one on my 2XXX gpx. If my memory serves me correctly, right near the summit, I missed the descent path in the dark and spent a good hour plus wondering over the top trying to find a way down that wasn't vertical. I've done that both times I've been over there. There's a...

Silly rabbits, overthinking it. There will be pain, and it will be character building. The last one has featured ...

I've had the exact same experience with Dub - went through three in no time at all. Found them tricky to get hold of at the time too. Eventually binned the crankset and bought Hollowtech 2, no bother since.
