I've ridden in these once, a few winters ago. They're a bit big for me.
They're a pair of these (70 quid new): https://www.terra-nova.co.uk/products/tuff-bags-gtx/

[SOLD] FS: Salsa Anything cages (pair, unused)
I fitted them, admired them, then took them off and have never actually needed them. They're the metal version, in black. With original straps (there are 4). These ones: https://salsacycles.com/components/category/racks/anything_cage For the avoidance of doubt, there are two. £20 shipped (to UK main...

PIXO C-USB battery charger
A portable USB battery charger that'll charge any camera battery and AA and AAA batteries. https://www.bikestation.fi/shop/electric/charger/pixo_c_usb_battery_charger.html The only supplier I could find for these was in Finland, where they add 24% VAT and then have to pay exorbitant international sh...

TiGoat Kestrel bivvy bag
It's one of these: http://www.titaniumgoat.com/Kestrel-Bivy.html Orange on top, forest green underneath, midge net across the area where your face goes. As new (used twice). 45 quid posted. Very much a summer bag, a good choice when it's midgy and you've got shelter from the rain. They're $80 new be...

Re: Carradice Saddlebag Question
I once phoned Carradice about the v2 Bagman (I have one). They said they discontinued it because people kept breaking them, having chosen not to use the supporting struts for aesthetic reasons. The fools! I know of 3 people who've broken the v2 off road even though they did use the struts. I mention...

Re: Brooks saddles
I go for C17 carved on drops, C17 standard on flat bars. I'd probably get the C19 for my MTB if I was buying a new one now though. Partly because I've not tried it, partly because I reckon the extra width would be comfier on long days on bumpy surfaces (not that I have any trouble with the C17 in th...

Re: Back issues
I'm a fan of bike fits, but it sounds like the body needs fixing to me Mike. I'm guessing the bike hasn't changed significantly for a while? I've had more than my fair share of lower back issues, starting when I was cycling 14 miles up and down hills each day, without realising the importance of str...

Re: Weighing things
Do you not have a set of kitchen scales that are good for up to 5kg? Our ones are permanently oily... Mine too. I think they were £12. Made by Salter, accurate to the nearest 5g, I suspect, and easily copes with 5kg. I don't have a bag that weighs more than 5kg. I was comparing 29er and plus wheel ...

Re: Trump steel and aluminium tax >>> bike prices?
Interesting stuff. Soma frames are shipped via California, rather than direct to Europe, so they'd be a good barometer were there to be an effect. From what Steve and Steve have said, it sounds like it's not going to be a big factor though.

Re: Bugger off?
Superb thread. Just yesterday I was pondering getting a train down to Lands End, then riding a largely off road route to John O'Groats. And riding it in a leisurely manner, visiting places you wanted to go on the way. So I'd include a few days in rhe Lake District. By the time I got to Scotland I'd ...

Re: Tarps
I did a bivvy month in 2015 without a tarp, because I hadn't decided what to get, then they were out of stock, then I discovered I didn't need one. I was doing one night trips though. For two or more nights keeping your sleeping bag/quilt dry is a priority, and I'd always take a tarp on multi night ...
