Re: First proper ITT route
I think there's something to be said for sub 100 mile "trails" as a stepping stone to the full blown ITTs, at 100Km it seems about right. You get the opportunity to see how your setup will handle and to fine tune your systems but there isn't that huge mileage weighing on your mind. yea we...

Re: Bike for the Mrs
yea the pinnacle frames are ok ( use to work at Evans part time when at 6th form and uni ), would want better forks especially if go in use it on trail centers etc as well as bike packing. if just bike packing on easy terrain may be go ridged on it as would be better (less flex) than cheep sus forks...

Re: Bivi only?
i have a slightly heavier gortex bivi bag that i have sewn a midge net in to and also some tabs for hooking to my bike to hold it open ( its got a large opening and im pretty short) this can turn it in to more like a bivi shelter but that works ok if its damp: this is the only photo i hav of it set ...

i shall try and remember to check after work. think its the 2.2 icon and the 2.25 Ardent . so might not be as useful a comparison as you might like for the set up you are going for

Re: Maxxis tyre sizes?
i have ardent front icon rear its very good , i did have a aspen rear but i split the side wall ( running tubeless) during an endurance xc race. so replaced it with the icon as it has a bit more grip. was really good pairing on the west highland way at the weekend, fast rolling but grippe and comfy ...

Re: No more faffing about
my only advise when it comes to gear on the bike is to protect the frame where the bags are going to rub a bit of insulation tape, especially on the front under where the bar bag harness will rub on the frame/ cables. other than that just see how it all works you will end up moving stuff around and ...
