Re: Blacks Sleeping bags
How times change. W'en I were a lad the finest bag you could get was a Blacks Icelandic. Hiked all over with that and spent a magical six weeks in Norway with the Senior Scouts. Slept just below the snow line by a glacier melt water lake under the stars on just a ground sheet - remember them - infla...

Rim widths
Starting to think about the spec for a new bike build. When running different tyre widths f/r does anyone run different rim widths? Thinking possibly of 27.5 x 3 on i45 rim front and 27.5 x 2.8 on i35 rim rear. The i35 may have to change as have not found any for sale yet. I think all the new B+ bik...

dental floss and a needle
Never been in a position to try this repair do you need a sailmakers palm to push the needle through or can you do it without?

Re: BB2OO Jerseys?
CTC Devon use a third party producer which I think is Impsport.
If you order a Devon jersey the order form and product comes from them - Impsport - direct.
Must be producers worldwide I would have thought.
Perhaps just some printed bin liners and stay with the BB zeigeist.

Why not consider a member funded scheme (P2P or Bear to Bear ) for some pucker cycle tops say long and short sleeved half zip bamboo or GTex?

Re: Todays ride
Rant alert well not really just a resigned whatever. Decided to go to Starcross today fully loaded on the new route that avoids white vans on the back road rat run road section. It involves four lift overs at the walkers gates because it’s about one mile of the SWCP and very steep coming home so wou...

jBay Got a SDW gpx but just outside Winchester it has a complete 360 in the data which I cant edit out - yet. Just thought if I could recreate it using cycle.travel it would be a 'cleaner' version but as said no SDW shown. Just shows the perils of following gps rather than head up looking around. :?...

GoreTex approach shoe.
Thousand mile socks for the walking bits.
Breathable gaiters for very wet/muddy conditions - allows you to dab your foot in deeper water/mud.
I use shoe sock combination all year.
Might try Sealskinz socks this year.

Have a look at Carpal Tunnel syndrome with the caveat that a. I am not medically trained and b. any symptoms you have will fit the medical condition googled. I have recently developed problems with my neck and wrists where suddenly the bike have been riding for four years does not fit me - or me it ...

An 20l AK airlok duo courtesy of jBay of this parish - thank you.
A rather nifty MSR gas canister stand for my Brukit - the plastic one is cheaper but if I stand on it its broken and metal will only be bent.
3 x etrex handlebar mounts - they are tuppence groat each and free postage if you buy three.

Hypothermia would be preferable to the shame of wearing rainlegs!
Looking at the cut of them you could keep dry and get hypothermia and look like one of the village people.

Re: Waterproof shorts
I keep wanting to like these http://www.rainlegs.com/en/home
It seems like a good idea but you are going to get a wet behind unless you have got your seat pack or X blade fitted.
Has anyone tried them?
Idea I like best so far is charliecres with the cut off Gtex. Might give that a go.

Re: "I just don't have what it takes".
Great to hear a report where things don't work out. I find somedays are not riding days no matter how much I want them to be. I also find when things start to go wrong they just seem to stack up and its knowing when to stop and when to press on that is important. Knowing yourself and your limitation...

Only ever used JB 100g canister with BruKit as read a review saying Coleman wouldn't fire up again after previously working.
Seems like you have to find what works and stick to it.

Re: Bar harness on rigid forks
Try a long strap each side that attaches to the bar loops right round the harness and bag back over the bars and down to the top of the forks. It might look odd but should be able to raise the harness which will pivot on the bar mounts and swing out/forward. With a bit of ingenuity you could have a ...
