Re: What are you listening to now?

Nancy Griffith who sadly died last week. I spent a month in Heidelberg and only had her cd Other Voices Other Rooms with me although I prefer Other Voices Too. Lots of songs you may recognise by other artists. Could have gone to see her at Cambridge Corn Exchange with the Blue Moon Orchestra but I d...

Have we done 'PrtSc'?
Is there a way to post a screen capture in a reply?
I am sure I have seen them posted so perhaps I have just not found the right combination of buttons to press.

Re: Do I want a riser bar?

Have you looked at http://yojimg.net/bike/web_tools/stem.php for stem length and https://whatbars.com/ for handlebar comparison. I have found that an interchangeable set up works for me with a Selcof carbon bar for winter and currently a Soma Dream Riser for those long warm summer rides - if only. M...

Re: Qu. for eTrex users

I use BaseCamp but only because I can’t figure out how to use other online tools - or pay for them. I have the mtb great Britain map loaded on both the etrex and BaseCamp. Sounds like you are confusing routes and tracks. Easily done and not 100% sure of differences myself. What I do know is that a r...

Re: The backlash continues?

The story appears to based around someone wild camping then sharing the 'wonderful sunrise' on social media. I couldn't read the whole article because of pop ups and the feeling of indifference once I realised that it was basically a rule 1 infringement. Moral of the story if you are wild camping do...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Managed to get a Soma Dream Riser handlebar so fitted that plus some open ended grips and Ergo tee style bar ends. First impression is way too wide but I overlaid the Ergos with the Jones Loops and near as makes no difference same width just not as swept back as the Jones. I will have a ride later i...

Re: Is there any hassle free way to travel from London to Scotland by public transport?

Depending on destination you may or may not have to move your bike in the middle of the night at Edinburgh. The train splits here with the smaller Fort Willian section having its own goods van added. It is a very sureal experence to be riding your bike down Waverley platform at 02.00 am with guards ...

Interesting fork.
Described as 'Selcof Carbon 27.5+ / 29er 3 Bolt Fork / Matt Black' but nothing on PX matches that description.
Is it only available as part of a build?

Re: What are you listening to now?

Jackson Browne - remember him?
He has a new album out so exploring the back catalogue.
Reminds me of time spent on Erraid back in simpler times.
We only had two LPs JB and Alain Stivell and his magic feckin celtic harp.
I listened to a lot of JB.

I was looking for a WTB Comfort saddle but failed to find one so settled for an Ergon.
It was not a success so now wondering if a silicon injection in my arse might be the way to go.

Re: Geoff Bars vs Jones H

Geoff bars fitted, not happy about the amount of cable crush with the Guide R brakes and a harness compared to the Confucius bars  Longer hoses will fix it but I'll do a few rides without a bar bag and see if I like Geoffs angles first When I built up my current bike I had the front harness an...

Re: Rear Lights

I use a mixture of Aldi or Cateye.
The Cateye has a slide on clip that fits in the loop of a Wildcat seat harness.
I have never lost a rear light off the harness but have lost one off the frame mount.
The slide in Cateye clip has a flared lip so you could put a cable tie round it.

Re: Not the HT550

I suspect this might have had something to do with being forced to hang the bike up by the back wheel on the train to Tyndrum.
Good read and an example of just go with the flow.

I met that guard going the other way FW to Tyndrum.
Definitely a rule 1 violator.

Looks like he is making good progress. Breakfast in St Brieuc now pressing on. I love that area of Brittany. Eating Moules-Frites in the sun on the quay in Pampol. Then on to Ile-du Brehat. Heaven. It grey and raining right now here in Devon. He has raised an impressive amount of money for bikes too...

Re: Lachlan Bike Packing the Tour De France

Just reading the article. Morton, who combines World Tour road racing with competing in gravel and endurance racing, says his solo unassisted ride will be an attempt to reconnect with the original spirit of the Tour, in which riders raced through the night, slept rough in fields and ditches and ate ...
