Re: Crankset Epic!
The circumference of the chain ring with the chain on will always be roughly similar. If you draw a circle then put a vertical line through it, then draw two ovals that overlap one in each direction you'll be able to eyeball it. Then again you may be out riding a bike! or look see this uTube vid yo...

Re: Smart phone tracking app for smart phones
...I wonder if it could handle 2 simultaneous devices. Phone for frequent updates and SPOT for filling in the coverage gaps. Apart from there would be no need especially if you have the SPOT and there coverage would appear to be better than mobile phones so just use SPOT ?, the spotwalla site does ...

Re: Smart phone tracking app for smart phones
Thanks for the clarification on the SPOT thingy Might be worth looking at https://spotwalla.com/help/devices.php you get a web tracking page that works with a wide variety of devices including smartphones and SPOT. just created an account and using the phone, so far it looks okay. PS sorry for the h...

Re: Smart phone tracking app for smart phones
......... I decided a SPOT would give more peace of mind as it would not be restricted by phone battery or signal. Okay I get the spot thing has better battery life but do they not suffer from the same signal restrictions as a mobile phone? I'm not talking about the tracking function as that's GPS ...

Re: Water, Water every where an not a drop to drink

It also fits in a normal bottle cage. http://www.purehydration.com/shop/emergency-aid/aquapure-traveller/ d There a good idea but was looking for something that was a bit more f...

Re: Water, Water every where an not a drop to drink
I've never filtered water in the UK, and have not been ill thus far. In fairness Rich I never bothered ... then I got caught out, was sick on the hour, every hour for a whole day and lost 8lb in 2 days :-bd Had a similar experience hence my original question, even though I followed the general rule...

Happy new year folks :0)
Thanks for the pointers folks, looks like the Sawyer mini is the way to go, quick look on Amazon, they seem to come in at 20 ish quid for the squeeze bag version, I assume they're pretty much the same just different bits that come with the filter itself

Water, Water every where an not a drop to drink
Folks, what the general consensus on carrying water when out bikepacking ?? Its something I'm quite weary of these days after doing what I had always done and drink from a fast flowing source of water that is odourless, but I got after a huge dose of the squirts a while back from bad water. and over...

A bit late but worth considering for future reference, as long as you dont want the latest and greatest, put these on my Pugsley recently and there fantastic, not as heavy as they look offer good grip and should clear snow very well due to the open design http://i.ebayimg.com/08/!B0v!-SQEWk~$(KGrHqV...

Re: Hennesy Hammocks
Got one for sale on here. Expedition Asym. Great hammock as a starter as it comes with tarp, snakeskin's, webbing and suspension as standard. Only reason i'm getting shot of it is that it doesn't get used anymore due to more complex and costly hammocks. :ugeek: http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/php...
