Re: Todays ride

Last night, I took a test ride to make sure my right leg will hold out this weekend (still aggrevated from the Dawn till Dusk ride). 66Kms to visit some folks between Brown Clee and Wenlock Edge...rain on the return leg got progressively heavier the closer I got to Shrewsbury. Nice tailwind though. ...

Exposure Spark or Lezyne Macrodrive have done the honors for night shopping runs here for a few years now. Still going strong.

Re: Free stuff

Well...I quite enjoyed the last little round of giveaway...time for another. I've got a Zéfal map holder here that could do with some love and a new home. I got it to hold cue sheets, but ended up never using it, so it's brand-spankin' new. Mounts like in the picture here - http://www.londoncyclist....

Nice Teva's...love my Teva river shoes. A bunch of Hammer products turned up today to keep me alive on the weekend...doing a little bit of nutrition experimentation with 'em. Alas, my wife missed the cutoff point to get Lois (my TD bike) over the pond in time for the jaunt. Will be eagerly awaiting ...

Re: Buying bits and pieces for bikepackin?

Two-fiddy Stirling (going on todays exchange rate) before the tax b'stards getcha (and that's a hit 'n miss affair) ain't too bad given the materials used and the quality of the build. It's about on par with the Enlightened Revelation Elite pricewise and less than half the weight of the UKH summer q...

If you don't mind a little wait (custom made) I keep recommending these - http://zpacks.com/quilts/sleepingbag.shtml. Large variety of sizes. Comes in green, green or green. I use the -1C/397gram medium/regular width version and it does what it says on the tin.

Easy 42Kms around back lanes and B roads west/south-west of Shrewsbury this afternoon. Getting tired of frozen feet though.

Re: Stuck in the mud

It doesn't matter what size tyres you run. If your wheels get to the point where the bike doesn't roll, and there will be times if you're in thick enough mud that this can occur irrespective of tyre size/width/clearance, resort to the following: a sturdy stick, patience and a good sense of humour. P...

Re: For the armchair SPOT watchers

Fla. isn't all sunshine and fun. Consider there will be times when it's >90% humidity coupled with > 30C; there could also be times of gale-force winds and/or hurricanes. Occasionally, they get all of that at once. Hydration in the hot weather will also be interesting. There's better places in the U...

Re: fiesta pub stop?

I hadn't found the pubs on route yet...but I'm up for a decent feed if you know of any that do food into the evening...and a pint, of course! A few more dots to join and some HAB to be erased and I should have some semblance of a route running.

I don't Strava, but I did roughly log my distance. I feel like a bit of a sloth compared to some of the scores above, but I'm using recovery from a broken foot as my excuse. :-) Trainer + outdoor riding up to the end of May was ~2400km ~3300km in the US June/July. ~1900km since July So somewhere in ...

Hopefully folks can see these images...a couple of panoramas from the Sunday session. After a late brekky/early lunch, we climbed up to see this view (sans bad stitching)... http://www.jmsweb.com/images/bb_winter_bothy_2014/bearbones_welshViews.jpg A little further up the track on the edge of Hafren...

Cheers for the weekend folks...that was a good 'un...even my little adventure on the icy climb didn't dampen the spirits (did make me skittish on the corners though).

More frozen tussock yomps!

Snowed up on Wenlock Edge last night when I was heading that way...ended up dropping in on a mate out there and drying all my gear and digits out. Bloody cold out there when it was sleeting. Might want to rug up folks :) Heading back out to catch train to Caersws in a bit...should make it to BBT for...

@Stu,

If the snow does hit, is this still on? I'm planning on bivvying out on Kerry Ridgeway tonight to make ride to BBT easier on Sat. morning, but if snow is gonna call it to a halt, I'll implement a plan B.

Stop buying studio equipment and start getting better bike bits.
Ride more climbs and singletrack...the weekend showed me my weakness there and how much my fitness has dropped. *sigh*
Pending no bio/mechanicals...finish TD aiming for GC...unfinished business.
