Re: The post man's been ...

Sorry about the 'experimental' packaging ... I remembered the fuel bottle after I'd parceled the poles up  I was impressed with the packaging, everything was packed with no spare space to rattle around in. Much better than the big on-line bike part suppliers who use a 'standard' box for every...

Re: Ti frame care

I've always been slightly obsessive about keeping my bikes clean and well looked after. After a ride of only 20 miles I'll wash it, dry off, lube the chain with a single drop applied to each link, spray the forks with fork juice, lube the pedals etc. and then it's ready for the next ride. However, I...

Re: Front Harness Net Thingy

One idea, might be simpler to use as well, is the make a net similar to yours but replace the webbing with loops for cordage. More flexible for packing on the go maybe? Maybe I just like elastic too much... The bottom 3 straps are attached to the net via square plastic rings which are sewn on to th...

Re: Front Harness Net Thingy

I've never seen one, but then where I live the only other bikepacker I've seen in real life is the wife and I made her harness as well. I've seen that some manufacturers make pockets but not noticed a simple net... but maybe I have and not realised and subconsciously that's how I thought of it

Front Harness Net Thingy

Whilst on a recent 2 day trip and taking my waterproof of for the N'th time and stashing it away in my seat pack I was thinking about somewhere more convenient to store it between showers. As I rode along I realised the answer was staring me in the face, literally, as I could store it in front of my...

Re: Switch oveR

The only improvement I would like it to have just the rear light lit during the day, if riding on the road. I guess I could do this with a Y cable into the female for the USB lead, as the rear light has much less draw than the front light does. So does that mean the rear light would be powered dire...

Re: GPS Navigation

If you upload it to bikehike you have the option to save it as a GPX route. That will beep at you (or at least they do on my 30x) I've been for a test ride with the planned route saved as a GPX route and it now takes a much more active role  I select the route, select go and then as I ride al...

Re: GPS Navigation

So the key is that it needs to be a gpx route and then it will navigate along it? This is how the 'course' worked on my Edge 500 with notifications if you went off course. I thought there must be a way to get it to have more of an active role in the navigating, otherwise it's just a tiny map with my...

GPS Navigation

I've bought an eTrex 30 and want to use it to navigate as I ride along. In my head I thought it would go something like the following:- Note I'll avoid the use of the works 'track' 'route' or 'waypoint' in case the exact meaning of these has an effect of the outcome. I have a gpx I've created and lo...

Re: Recharging from a Dyno

I was thinking along the same lines but hadn't looked for anything to solve it yet. A bit of a web search found this http://www.solartechnology.co.uk/freeloader-battery-charger I think this is what you might be looking for but I've no experience of the item so can't be sure. I'd like to know if it d...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Went in my local Blacks today for a browse and ended up buying a Garmin Etrex 30 for £120, it was reduced from £220. A look on the Blacks website doesn't show them any more so I guess local shops will be selling off stock so worth a look in if you're passing one. They also had other garmin and suunt...

Re: TN Laser end poles.

The modified end poles weigh 40g a pair on my scales. The original uncut versions are 28g a pair. I still have the original poles as I bought a spare set from TN to modify in case it all went horrible wrong. It's best not to be too obsessed with weight if you buy a laser as you need to add some weig...

Tour de Isle of Wight

Having not been on an overnighter since last May when the wife had to stop riding due to a knee injury I finally plucked up the courage to head out on my own. As the Isle of Wight is lacking in wilderness areas I cheated somewhat and asked a local land owner I know if I could bivi on his farm. He ha...

Re: TN Laser end poles.

Umm, don't want to get a ban by posting a cheaper alternative.. and I meant to posts these in here a while ago. The length of the end poles has always been a problem so I cut mine down and epoxied on a length of aluminium tube as a joiner. They weren't cut in half as the joiner adds length so they w...

Re: Simple Revo Question

I was talking about the lack of switch whilst our riding last night with a mate. We concluded that as we only turn our lights off to save battery power and we'd both had failures of (cheaper) lights we thought were the switches then eliminating it makes sense on a light with no battery to go flat, o...

is the mk1 revo current ? any sign of a mk2 coming ? I bought mine this week and it's the current model. It actually just says "Revo" on the side but it might have Mk1 somewhere else on it. In all my web searching I've not seen any indication that there is a Mk2 coming and I'm not sure wh...

Re: Simple Revo Question

I've looked on the website where I bought the hub from (CRC) and they don't list the connector as a spare so realising that they won't have any and they would then have to order it from Exposure who'd send it to them in Ireland and then they'd have to send it to me... I called Exposure direct and th...

Simple Revo Question

Today I collected my Revo from my LBS, ordered through them as they price matched online. I already have an Exposure branded hub which I got at Christmas and ordered online. The connector for the wire to the hub is not included with the Revo (the wire is) and it's not in the box the hub came in :sad...

Re: 15QR Axles

Sprung loaded might be a bad choice of words is it just the cam action when you move the lever? My forks are 2015 32 Floats, 120 CTD Performance Series 650B and to be fair to Fox are much better than the older 32's I used to have, although I probably don't ride them nearly hard enough to notice any ...

Re: 15QR Axles

I'm not using a 9mm qr, I've got a QR15 dynamo hub and the normal wheel is also QR15. The axle screws into the fork leg and then it's got a qr type lever which folds up to lock it off. The threaded end of the axle goes into a nut which is loose in the other fork leg but has teeth around the edge to ...

15QR Axles

Last night I put the tyre on my new dynamo front wheel and tried it in my forks. The forks are Fox 32 with a QR15 axle. I plan to swap between the dyno wheel and normal depending upon the riding I'm doing. When tightening up the lever on the QR axle it was not as tight as with the wheel I took out, ...
