Re: Tyres for Winter Event and WRT
Give or take how they're measured, rim width and how much clearance you want... Schwalbe (usually measure a bit small IIRC): Thunder Burt 29x2.1 (54c) Smart Sam 700x40 (42 printed on sidewall), 700x45 (47 printed on sidewall), 29x2.1 Dirty Dan 29x2.0 (depending on the terrain) Marathon Mondial 700x4...

Re: Your CX ratios
I went for a similar "do-all" gearing when I wore out my last groupset. I'm running 42/32 paired with 13-26 or 11-28 (8speed). The small tooth difference at the front means nice smooth shifting and has been great for a mix of audax and some cross-style riding in the Peaks and Pennines as w...

Re: Dynamo lights 101
Also, why do people seem to have predominantly the SP-8 instead of the more powerful (I'd slightly weightier) PD-8? I think the model names are getting mixed up somewhere... The SV-8 and SD-8 models are for 20" wheels, they only produce 2.4W if you use them with 26"/700c wheels. PD-8, PV-...

Re: Dual-side velcro webbing/tape
I've used this for feedbag attachment before https://www.profabrics.co.uk/products/a ... 01174.html
It's not as fluffy as regular velcro and the hook side seems less scratchy but appears to work. Can probably throw a few cm in the post if you want to see what it's like.

Re: BB200 2014 - congratulations and thank you
From the little I know about these 2 they sound attractive. However, they also seem to be a quite different style of event to the ITT of the BB200. Are there other ITT events that are shorter than 200km? The Trans Cambrian ITT is slightly shorter (100 miles). There's a list/links here: http://www.s...

Does the torch have enough metal to drill and tap a few threads into it? Exposure sell both their qr mount and the bolt-on 'wedge' that fits in (found on the bottom of the Toro, Revo etc.)

Re: Carrying Tents
Definitely carry the pegs/poles separate to anything material. Went on a test-ride with tarp/poles/tents despite not actually sleeping out... I had the poles in a bag between the toptube and framebag, pegs in little pouch in the framebag and the tarp/lines stuffed into the end of a drybag with sleep...
