Re: Gear changing and braking advice please

Cane creek brake levers are nicer than the tektro ones. Planet X are doing dura Ace 11 speed bar end shifters for 35 quid? Else 9 speed ones can be had for 60 ish Silly question of the day, will these shifters work with an 11 speed rear mtb derailer and mtb cassette (assuming I can get these at a g...

Re: Genesis Longitude

A friend picked one up at the end of last year, he seems to be happy with it so far! I had a quick roll around on it, would consider one if I'd not got the KM. The Spyke brakes seems pretty sweet and look a likely replacement if my BB7s ever die...

Re: Todays ride

200km audax yesterday, first ride since early November and 6 months since my last audax. Pleasant route from Cheadle to Ellesmere (Shropshire) and back. Almost perfect weather apart from the headwind on the way out. Stopped for food at the Raven Cafe in Prees Heath, a good helping of egg, chips and ...

Re: food options+ preferences

Forgive me if this has been covered a thousand times but I have experimented with supermarket noodles/rice packets, wraps with peanut butter, porridge etc and they dont work well for me. I function better without gluten or dairy so I limit my options further. I have bought dried soy mince which I k...

Anybody got a gas tank style bag they're really happy with? I've tried a few, each with different problems - if only Wildcat made some, I'm sure they would be perfect, like my front & rear harnesses are... What issues have you had with them? I've got an Apidura one, it's ok but I can see how th...

I'd accept your feet will getting wet at some point, wear shoes that drain well and wear wool socks for warmth when wet... I wouldn't bother plugging those Shimano shoes, in my experience they do an excellent job of holding water, so I doubt much escapes though the cleat plate. On last year's Mere C...

I think Ian means the links with a spring clip rather than the 'quick link' type? http://2.imimg.com/data2/IR/CV/MY-4211891/roller-chain-links-250x250.jpg I've never had an issue with the spring clip type links, either push bike or motorbike ... Re: Off road bikes are confusing

Think the full bike is around 13kg/29lb and isn't badly spec'd for just under a grand... Spyke brakes with compressionless housing, 35mm rims... Friend picked one up a few months back and has been very happy with it so far.

Re: Highlands 1300K Audax - Adventure show.

I'm considering riding the route next summer with a mate. Is it worthy of an inclusion on Self Supported UK if we ITT it? Thats what I was thinking about but I'd forget about SS UK & ITT and just ride it for the hell of it. If completion within the AUK rules and regs doesn't seem challenging en...
