Re: Anyone at Claerddu last night?
That was us :-) We didn't send them anywhere but they arrived stating they were having a few friends over to celebrate their friend's birthday and would we like to join them. We declined. They explained that there would be 25 of them descending on the bothy to party till the early hours. On recollec...

If it was me I'd go with the Trekkertent Stealth, and I did. It's fantastic. Lightweight, compact and very versatile.
You won't be disappointed.

Trans Cambrian Bothies
Me and a friend are doing this out and back from Knighton in August over a leisurely 4 days. Was wondering if anyone could point us in the direction of bothies along the route. We are expecting to camp but maybe nice if the weather turns bad that we have options.
Any help much appreciated.

Pinnacle Ramin 1 is my goto bikepacking bike. To be honest I use it for my goto bike full stop. Really nice bike to ride and great value for money.

Re: New stove for solo adventures
I have stu's afterburner stove (2 actually as the wife wanted one). I also have a triangia as well. My go to stove kit is Stu's Afterburner and very lightweight windshield (came with stove) with a Alpkit myti mug. Really lightweight, a lot more efficient than the triangia and it all fits in the mug ...

Re: Highland Trail 2015
I am feeling a wee bit nervous today. Fell asleep studying the maps last night. A nightmare ensued with 70 mile a day rides just to finish in time...oh wait that is really whats gonna happen. The nightmare is real.
I'm excited too.

Quick question on tracking on trackleaders, what tracking interval does everyone set there spot tracker to and does it noticeably effect battery life?

Re: 29r recommendations then
As Taylor says the Pinnacle Ramin 1 is hard to beat as a cheap bike. The ride is nice and supple for a rigid bike. It's worthy of upgrades as well. The bike I rode on the BB200 last year is the one being used for the HTR550 this year so can't be bad. My cannondale trail sl singlespeed is a lovely bi...

Well Done! Nice write up, sounds like you got lucky with your saddle. That could of literally been a pain in the bum.
Is the updated GPX file available for this route yet? I'm attempting this coming weekend and was going to use the 2014 version but newer is always better

Re: Multiday Bikepacking Menus
You guys know how to live it up. I was thinking along the lines of stu's suggestion but liking the idea of camembert and steak. Had a look at the dehydrated foods and calorie to weight value is very high so tempted down that route for events. I'll order some up and give it a try. Definitely trying s...

Multiday Bikepacking Menus
Looking for some inspiration on the cooking front. I've got Stu's afterburner stove and an alpkit mytimug. So the question is what would/have cooked using a similar setup?
Looking for high calorific value, low weight and great taste if this is possible

Re: Sleeping bags
I have the Vango bag and I'm really happy with it. I thought the half zip would of been a problem at first but I've got along with it really easily. Weight and size of the bag compressed was the biggest selling point for me. I've used it on the northern winter bivvy and had a comfortable nights sleep.
