Re: Which compressor for tubeless?
Blackhound - if you are having trouble getting the tyres seated, here are few things that helped me recently. I've never needed to use an air compressor, just a Joe Blow track pump. You may have already tried some of these things, some were mentioned above already. 1. Check the tyres to make sure th...

Great riding with you Scott. Thanks for your tips for adjusting the route. That 'golf course descent' into Rhayader was ace. Someone has tagged it with a different name on Strava. Still curious where the golf course is! ;-)

Re: GPX for the ton of gravel? Anyone?
As I remember it there are some serious drainage issues that had to be sorted before the trail was going to be repaired and reopened. Personally I doubt it has been officially reopened. This road has been repaired and there are no signs of closure. Andy and I rode it going East from the reservoir t...

Some photos from last weekend with Andy L and Scott (Scatta). It rained a bit, but it was not too cold. We had the bothies to ourselves and plenty of firewood/coal. Some really nice sections the routes from Ian and Stu. Thanks for all the tips!

Re: Riding + Bivy/Bothy near Llanwrtyd Wells from 22-25 Jan
Hi Stu, I am still planning for Nant Rhys on Saturday night, but I suppose I need to stay tuned on the weather, per Ian's report. It's probably doable either way but might mean a road section back on Sunday if the snow has turned to a mud slushy. I love riding in snow (I come from the Cascades, WA S...

Re: Riding + Bivy/Bothy near Llanwrtyd Wells from 22-25 Jan
Okay, thanks for the heads up about the snow. I was assuming it would melt by Friday. I will reevaluate the route later this week depending on what happens with the melting. I'll be on 29x3 tyres, so not really ideal for 4" of fresh snow.

Re: Riding + Bivy/Bothy near Llanwrtyd Wells from 22-25 Jan
Hi Scott, Strange, the images do appear on desktop for me, but they don't show up on mobile. Possibly a 'mobile responsive' thing which is skipping them because they are large images? Here are some direct links to the images. Northern sections Southern sections I have the GPXs for all three of these...

Thanks, Chew. I had a similar warning from Ian and saw the thread here. I have looked at the options to go around that section, unless by some chance it's reopened.Chew wrote:Just a word of warning if you're heading over to Ty Cornel...

Re: Riding + Bivy/Bothy near Llanwrtyd Wells from 22-25 Jan
Good to hear some others might be up for this. I have seen a few different versions of the Two Ton route. There is one as a screenshot here http://www.wildcatgear.co.uk/events/ and one I have as GPX (screenshot below). The one below is shown as going CCW. Would it make much difference CW or CCW? It ...

Re: Dynamo Lights & USB charger
I use the SP PD-8X with a kLite (standlight version) and the Sinewave Revolution for charging. I use a cache battery to charge up during the day when I don't need the lights. That way the battery is charged later if I need to charge the GPS after dark. Some models of USB cache batteries allow for si...

Re: Riding + Bivy/Bothy near Llanwrtyd Wells from 22-25 Jan
Cool, Scattamah and Norm. Would be great to meet up. Tentative plan: Fri 22nd (Day 1): South section of Ian's Tywi Ton (shown in yellow below) going clockwise starting from Llanwrtyd Wells until it joins the BB200 2013 route just SE of Strata Florida. There's the Tyncornel bunkhouse at around 80k if...

Riding + Bivy/Bothy near Llanwrtyd Wells from 22-25 Jan
A bit short notice but I've only just a schemed plan in the past week or so. I have a long weekend 22-25 Jan and I am planning to drive to Llanwrtyd Wells on Thursday evening 21st Jan and setting off Friday morning on a loop of some kind. I am thinking of doing some of the Wildcat 100 / Two Ton of G...

Re: GPX for the ton of gravel? Anyone?
Has anyone done the ton of gravel route in 2015? I am considering it sometime between 22-25 Jan (spare 2015 hols I need to use up in Jan). I heard about the erosion / mega gully at the 'Pre Doethie drop' segment and I read the comments above. But I wonder if the road is now repaired, because I notic...

Re: Ocelot vs Apidura
Oooh, good timing on this thread. I've just been looking at the Ocelot vs the full triangle Leopard. So far I've been riding with a full frame bag and Camelback or water bottles on the fork or underneath the down tube, but I'd like to get those bottles into the main triangle when possible. Just wond...

Re: Dynamo wheels - kept for best?
I have over 9,000 miles on my first SP PD-8 and it's still going strong. My second one is the PD-8X with about 1,500 miles on another bike and no problems there either. I just run it all the time, but sometimes people helpfully tell me to turn my lights off in day time if I am not paying attention. L
