Re: Joystick Mk 7 question
Spot on — thanks for that. I don't think my brain had quite made sense of the way the manual phrased it in the past. Sorry for the slight thread hijack.Just press and hold the button, it flashes 3 red, 3 green then 2 red in order of the modes

Re: What bike?
Daniel, funny you went to flat bars after your jogle, I went to drops from flat bars a few weeks after doing it. Looking at you bike your saddle seems quite high in relation to your bars/stem. I had to change a much loved roadie last year because it was causing me quite a bit of lower back pain. It...

Re: Joystick Mk 7 question
While the topic of the 'Modes' is up, would anyone care to explain to me how you rotate through them? I get how to flick between low, medium, and high and into 'commuter' mode, but don't see how you get between programs 1-8 listed on the back of the light?

Re: What bike?
Perhaps a 29er with drops? I've been thinking along the lines of an Inbred or Scandal but I keep reading they're a bit long on top tube when run with drops. Something like this maybe? Around a year ago I was in a similar position to you. I very nearly build my inbred up with drops, but in the end d...

I'd vouch for an Anker on too. Got one ready for this summers adventures, but I've used it a few times recently (including last night). Seems pretty good, think I got 5/6 full iPhone charges from mine when I tested it but can't remember if I went for the 13k or 15k mah now.

Dartmoor Route Recommendations
Anyone got any recommendations for a two-day dartmoor loop out of Plymouth? I'd prefer as much off-road as possible. I normally end up using cycle route 27 from Plymouth out to Yelverton when riding normally, so happy for loops that start in that area too. I'm a student and I've just finished off my...

Can't say its ever really interested me. Watching a load of people riding skinny-wheeled bikes? Blah, I'd rather go ride my knobbly tyres.

Shure headphones iPhone lead, 2x space blankets, and a GorillaPod so I don't have to carry the big tripod on the bike.

Lezyne Pressure Drive here. Little pricy, but does the job very well. Very fast inflating, and very light. Only pump I've ever used with a good bottle cage mount, too.

Topeak Hexus 2 is pretty good. Just about every tool under the shun on it, and easy enough to use with gloves on too. Got a Crank Brothers Pica cheap from Sport Pursuit when I I lost the to peak. Incidentally found it in my TN Laser last eek week  Got are good tools. Topeak is easier to use wh...

TerraNova Laser here. As has already said, outer first and outer only if wanted. Good ventilation, if used correctly all condensation can be dispensed. Very light, and although a little flappy in high wind solid once up. I've used mine in some extreme winds, enough to see some geodesic tents fail wi...

Re: First Time Kit List
This is true, but even if you were to double-drybag something to keep one dry it'll be smaller/lighter than most pillows. This is only good when the conditions are dry. Believe me on our last trip the last thing you want to put your face next to would have been the bar mounted dry bags.

Re: First Time Kit List
Genius! I feel ashamed that I didn't think of it now.If you want to save space, I use my bar mounted dry bag and seal it half to three quarters full of air to make a pillow. Makes two uses for one piece of kit and is pretty comfy to boot!

First Time Kit List
Done plenty of back packing over the years, but never done anything super lightweight, or with the sort of space restrictions I'll have for this summers trips. I have a framebag, with a bar bag and seat pack on the way. Will run a small (16l) rucksack too if need be. Never done any bike packing stuf...
