Re: New 29er frame suggestions

New Sherpa on its way then

Looks like the next batch of Solaris' (Solarii) will be bolt thru or even boost rear axle for those interested.

Re: Any Karate Monkey owners?

Further update. I'd only got 3 or 4 rides in before 2016 ended. Then I was injured and only got my first ride of 2017 in yesterday. So, the KM Ops, it was the perfect mile muncher. So totally ticked the box. Less playful in the twisty bit of singletrack I like in the local woods. But not sure if tha...

Re: Fs price drop medium pinnacle ramin 3+ upgraded as new,

I'm counting on it being time of year as mine is getting no interest either.

All the best with your sale firestarter.

Re: New 29er frame suggestions

If you'd said a size 'medium' my reply would have been 'my Solaris that is for sale'

But I think the answer is Solaris.

Was your old one a mk1? If so, you can always view buying the mk2 as a suitable different version - just to convince yourself :-bd

Re: Fs price drop medium pinnacle ramin 3+ upgraded as new,

I showed my father and he was interested but just had to replace his oven at home so funds / timing conflict.

Not sure if it's a bad time of year. I've had literally no feedback or interest in my Solaris for sale (here, UK fat bikes and STW).

Thanks for sharing. I've given it a like.
I like stuff like that, it's my inner bike geek I guess.

I really should do an overview of my new KM Ops at some point.

Cotic Solaris (medium)

Mk1 green Solaris in a 17.5 frame. I've owned this from new for just over 2 years. It was bought as a complete build from Cotic (built up by Paul there). It was the Gold level build at the time: Hope xc tech wheels with pro evo2 hubs. Conti mountain king II 2.2 tyres. Hope headset, seat post Q/R and...

Quick update.

I pulled the trigger and bought one.

Arrived yesterday. Built it up last night and had a brief shakedown ride today. Early days but looks promising.

I see your getting in on the act though Stu  I was reading about the inaugural Adventure bike festival on STW and was going to come over here and get all self-righteous when I read Bear bones will be there running workshops  http://singletrackworld.com/2016/12/new-event-adventure-cycle...

Adventure cycle festival

Saw this on the news section of STW and thought I'd share: http://adventurecyclefestival.co.uk This not-for-profit festival aims to inspire people to use bikes for adventure, whether that’s a day in the mountains, a coast-to-coast epic, or an overnight bikepacking trip. Based at the spectacular loca...

Re: Do you cycle on towpaths?

I've also had the THIS ISN'T A CYCLE PATH when stood next to the national cycle route signs. :D Similar to this. The one time I convinced my daughter to come out with me on a bike ride we encountered a grumpy old man who started yelling "have you lost the road" repeatedly. The irony was h...

Re: Any Karate Monkey owners?

Thanks.

I started @100mm, then up to 120mm. It seems OK except the raised BB height.

Maybe I'm bored?!

If you want to buy another Solaris....

what travel forks do you run on the solaris?

Just wondering if I should drop mine back to 100mm before changing bikes!

Weight I'm prepared for. It's a cheaper build and my Solaris is a light build anyway.

It'll be lighter than my Pug I'd imagine.

Looking at geometry charts the KM is close to the Carve which I did enjoy riding.

Re: Any Karate Monkey owners?

Thanks for the replies so far. Please keep them coming. Just a bit of background on my reasoning: Had my Solaris for about 2 years, it's well equipped with XT and Hope. But I only really have ridden it a handful of times in the past year. My riding has changed. It's slower and less extreme (in terms...

Any Karate Monkey owners?

Not the new one, with 650b+ but the older version. In particualr the OPS version. Just looking for some owner feedback. I know it might be viewed as a bit 'old school' now (by some) but it seems to tick boxes I am looking for in terms of bikepacking and general mile munching. Especially interested i...
