from recent experience, give yourself at least two weeks in NZ to get over the jet lag and acclimate to the temperatures, going from here at -5 to Auckland at +35 was quite a shock

and getting to the start line isn't going to a piece of cake unless you can organise a lift

just reading back through the comments

Tom, dont kid yourself, it will be a race, we started last Saturday at 45kph for the first hour !

and the first guy back averaged around 290ks per day, thats racing ;-)

it didnt go anywhere near to plan, tough first day folowed by getting sick on the second day effectively finished it for for me, carried on at a reasonable pace until Friday when we got a lift back to the finish point it was an amazing experience even though I only saw half of the route, the camerad...

was speaking to Jonathon Kennet last week, he already has 180 enquiries and is capping the event at 100 so if you are serious about this then you'd better confirm with him now I was going to do it but realised that after my difficult kiwi brevet I should leave the place to people who are going to do...

and a day of waiting on the inlaws for less than miniumum wage, nothing in fact but the opportunity to allow them to drink my wine and then do all the washing up

its fair to say I hate xmas :-)

one the best things about the internet, gathering old maps is relatively easy these days, my collection of Anglesey maps go back to the 1800s now, fascinating subject

I reckon you could spend a year just riding and seeing the UK, as for how long I could take it ?, dunno really, longest has been two weeks but will hopefully be three months in new zealand come January

hopefully I've just replied, but if not, I'm bailing this week due to my chest infection getting worse rather than better :-/, taking a few days on Anglesey with the lad, walking instead of riding, hoping to be better for next week
