Re: HT550 Northern Loop - The Video

Thanks Eric, No real problems with midges for some reason, they were getting a bit active on the track past Suilven but otherwise all ok. Bonus! Yeah, I think I should get Zoe some bit's for xmas, although when I've suggested that in the past she's always said that it would make the bike heavier for...

HT550 Northern Loop - The Video

Hi, Finally got around to sorting out the footage from our ride around the Northern loop of the HT550 that we did August Bank holiday. A great weekend in a beautiful part of Scotland. I've rushed it unfortunately so no BAFTA's I'm afraid. The idea behind the ride and the film was as a reccy for me a...

Re: BB200 Water borne dodgyness

I was drinking out of the streams all weekend. No probs. In fact I've been drinking from streams whilst on the hill all my life with no issues. As long as it's fast flowing and there's not a dead sheep upstream I don't see a problem. Maybe it's not the water, maybe it's more the fact you've been har...

Re: BB200 Report

Nice one Ian, a good account. Well that was my first BB200 and my naivety probably helped. If I known there was going to be that much hike-a-bike I probably wouldn't have bothered! But, no harm done, type 2 fun as they say. The highs definatley outweighed the lows, cloud inversion as the sun was set...

HT550 Northern loop

I've just been around the northern loop of the HT550. Weather was a bit changeable but came good on the costal road  I don't think the missus is too pleased though, spent too long in cafés and lapping up the views, coupled with loads of hike-a-bike on the Suliven section meant a midnight finis...

Re: Annual Bear Bones Bikepacking video awards.

Ian and yourself have set a high bar, love your edit and choice of music on that Kinver video.

Is the multiple picture effect standard with FCP or do you use a plug-in?

Re: Annual Bear Bones Bikepacking video awards.

I'm glad I asked now

Shooting in 1440, simple yet so obvious now someone's pointed it out! I'll have plenty of fun playing around to see what works.

Looking forward to part 2.

Re: Annual Bear Bones Bikepacking video awards.

Cheers Ian, I'll get a couple of spare ones. I used protune because I thought that after editing it would be better (raw vs jpg analogy), if it's chewing the batteries I won't bother! Just out of interest what settings did you use for HT550, the quality seemed great. Any tips/secrets from your workf...

Re: Annual Bear Bones Bikepacking video awards.

Hi all, I've just got myself a GoPro after being inspired by Ian's excellent video of the HT550. I thought I'd give it a practice this weekend on the Trans Cambria way. I only got past Rhayader before the battery ran out! I reckon all in all 15-20 mins of footage at the most. Are the batteries that ...

Cycle luggage

Hi all, I'm new to bikepacking but over the years I've done a few Polaris's and other cycle adventures. In the past I've always carried my kit on my back with a rucsac and I was wondering about getting some cycle luggage (Wildcat, Alpkit etc). Do people find that using frame bags etc is a better way...
