Re: Anyone not use a mtb for bikepacking trips?

I've used my CX bike, it's not comfy though if it is very rocky.

Re: Highland trail 550!!

Final decision has been made. This is my ride for the HTR. Sleep stuff up front, clothes rear, food in triangle. Hopefully my Alpkit stemcells turn up before I leave, otherwise I may have to take a small rucksack for extra food. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e124/ardsei/Image00001_zpsc1f990fa.jp...

The last model Swiss military bike, the MO 93 could lug over 300 pounds.
Iirc the WW1 cyclists were never deployed.

Blisters - protective tape.

Does anyone know of a tape that'll stay put when wet.

In spite of wearing in my new shoes to the best of my ability, I can still forsee the possibility of rubbage to my heel when walking.

Just heard my "serviced" forks are on their way back. I may use my other bike if they get here in time.

Are we all ready?
My bike seems to be working, which is nice
Mine isn't, spent most of yesterday trying to get the gears working properly.

Have just ordered a BIG sprocket. I am going back to SS.

Also trimmed my baggage allowance.

Bad news,

I found some stuff a while back saying really short cranks ie 140mm put less strain on the knee, with no loss of power.

Re: Highland trail 550!!

I'm still looking forward to this.

It'd be nice if I had a working bike other than my rigid singlespeed.

Hopefully the postman will bring me a couple of bits and pieces in the next two weeks to remedy that.

Re: Sleeping Mat repair, will this work?

Seems to have worked. I was more worried about the edge of the patch peeling.

I've ordered some tenacious tape to remedy that though.

Sleeping Mat repair, will this work?

I've got a Bozeman mat with a tiny hole, that I have located and patched with a tube patch.

Will this work, or do I need a special repair kit?

Re: Multitool recommendation

I still do not understand some of these posts. Some people who spank up a fortune on a Ti pot or mug to save 30g over an aluminium one then carry multi tools that weigh around 300g plus!. Plenty of very light options available, even titanium ones (ooooh... precious things). I've got a Lezyne one wh...

Mint - Integral Designs Hooped Bivy 1040gms

Integral Designs Cocoon Hooped Bivy. Used for one night only. Unmarked, and as new. Weighs 1040gms on my kitchen scales with stuff sack poles etc. With lighter pegs you could shave a bit off that. The night I used it, the weather was grim. Lots of rain and wind, condensation was not an issue, and th...
