Re: Bivi bag & condensation

I often think that when people think they'd like a hooped bivvy ... what they actually want is a Lunar Solo. That would be me.......I had a Rab hooped bivi, I used it for about 5 or 6 trips, heavy and awful to slee[ in..... I sold it onto somebody else and guess what....I bought a Lunar Solo and I ...

Re: Bivi bag & condensation

Cheers guys, some useful info for me. I do use my lightweight tent for most trips, but the bivi is used more around local stuff as its easier. My mat is always outside the bag, but I will have a play with a tarp. I do run quite warm all year round. So if the weather is good (dry) is it worth ditchin...

Bivi bag & condensation

I have been using a Alpkit bivi bag for the last 4 or 5 trips, but condensation has been a problem. The first trip was with a down bag and I know down is no good when wet, so I was awoken with cold. But most of the trips have been with a synthetic bag, weather has been good, mostly dry and warm and ...

Re: FS: Genesis Longitude, Medium, 2017

Hey there, its been a while... I need to use this forum a bit more. :-) I've had a rough six months or so, but I'm still doing the bikepacking stuff, most of it has been on my road bike. I have done a few bivies over on the Long Mynd and Stiperstones over the last few months, still learning, but I'm...

FS: Genesis Longitude, Medium, 2017

I have a Genesis Longitude 2017, Medium for sale. The bike has only been ridden 4 times since March 2017 and I’m not using it as much as it should be used. I am doing a lot of road stuff these days, the bike has been stored in a spare room in the house. It has all the original parts, except that it ...

Meths burner advice

I am looking at going back to a meths burner, the last burner I used was the trangia system which I have had for over 20 years and its been a great bit of kit, but only used for car camping as its way too heavy. I have a couple of Alpkit pots, the 450 and 750, so any advice on which meths burner to ...

Re: Convert to meths stove

Hi windjammer - I made the mistake of getting a 8g when my pot is 600 so it's sitting around unused.
Only fired it up twice.
A tenner plus postage and you can have it.

I'm looking at giving meths a go, do you still have the item for sale?

Re: Shropshire bivy?

Sorry chap, I wont be able to make it that early in the day, family stuff. It would have to be a bit later in the evening, the earliest I could meet up at the train station would be around 6.30ish?

I could always meet you guys in the pub if that's too late a start for and you want to crack on?

I will be having my first bike bivi trip out tonight, riding out to my local spot, Stiperstones to test out my bike and gear etc. I have a 20L Alpkit dry big which is holding my sleeping bag, bivi bag, a small groundsheet and a insulation jacket, its weighs around 2.8kg, attached to the Kanga harnes...

To give me a better idea of bikepacking.....what and where do you put you gear on your bike?

I have all sorts of dry bags etc and I intend on experimenting with them to see what works best....

Cheers :-)
