Re: Single speeding a Campy hub?

i ride singlespeed on the road all the time, where i live is very rolling with no climb longer that 3 minutes, so riding SS i can essentially do intervals, ride to start of series of climbs with a decent cadence of 85-90rpm but little resistance to warm up, get to where the climbs start, and attack ...

Re: just keep on going.

I find as i get older that i still have terrible wanderlust and that my mood, especially at the moment, where i have been sat in front of PC working from home now for 8 months and i only time i leave my small village is to ride bike, or to shops once a fortnight. As you get older life is all about c...

Re: ever wish you were strong enough to ride single speed ?

What about running it as a dinglespeed Ton if you're are worried about a climbing gear, so two rings up front and two cogs at back, as long as the combined number of teeth adds up, then you should be able to lift chain off and flick it to other combo, so 32/16 ( = 48) and 30/18 - (48). Gives you an ...

Re: ever wish you were strong enough to ride single speed ?

For me i ride a SS road bike in winter with 46/16 gearing and a SS gravel bike with 45c tyres and 40/16 gearing, for me it is certainly not about willy waving at all, i think it best suits certain areas of the country unless you are super strong, places with shorter climbs, ones you can get up and r...

Re: Festive 500 in a oner?

I've done one 500km from Newcastle to London in a oner for charity, that took me 19 1/2 hours... now if you can sit on a turbo trainer saddle for that length of time then all power to you, i had to fit a Brooks B17 to turbo for rides over 2 hours when having to isolate twice! I think they have had t...

Re: shimano mw7 size wise

i bought a pair of MW7 last week and say that they size a little big, in that i am a 44, and bought 44 and have room for Woolie Boolie merino thick socks, fine, i really like them, very comfortable and have stood up to mud and rain so far.

Re: Nighttime riding, fear and loathing.

I remember riding overnight on one of these charity rides, 250 miles from Manchester to London in 24 hour things, going through clubland in Coventry about 2am, when a girl clearly worse for wear and stood in the middle of the road, just looked flabbergasted and was pointing at me shouting "he's...

Re: Nighttime riding, fear and loathing.

I really enjoy riding in the dark, i do tend to fall back on a collection of regular routes though and don't try to much that is new, i leave that for weekends, but the dark often means you have thoughts to yourself, less traffic and where i live it turns into a nature ramble, often see deer, barn o...

Re: norfolk

Living in Norfolk for 7 years now, although from Portsmouth originally, we have never had an issue with anyone local riding the footpaths near us, as many are just farm tracks and link to bridleways and byways, and without regular use, many would easily become overgrown. The only time i have had an ...

Re: Rear Light recommendations

Been using one of these, very bright and best of all comes with 3 different mounts, so can easily mount to the stays below rear bag, or can clip onto the loop on back of most bags with the variety of mounts.

I've ridden through it before but either to get to Belgium or France, and wandered if there were any interesting areas to explore, other than the cities themselves.. i do seem to be drawing a bit of a blank really!

Netherlands routes

I've a mate who is currently based in Hook of Holland as an engineer on a Saudi gin palace ship being built there and has suggested meeting up for a bivvy trip. He is very much a roadie but has treated himself to a BTwin gravel bike for knocking around on. Anyone know of any good off-road gravel rou...

Been enjoying following it, looking at some of the images, really does look barren and some great gravel roads that follow the ridges and stay high.

Very sorry to hear that Dave, she certainly sounded a fighter, i enjoyed the challenge of trying to find the prettiest scenery postcard of the Norfolk coast and a slightly cheeky "seaside" old school card.

Re: KS Lev dropper posts

I can't comment on KS Lev. but got a Brand X from CRC in one of their sales, and so far it has been faultless, so much better than those daft Reverb. I stripped mine fine, not to service, but to add One Up components shims to reduce travel slightly, and no problems.

I'm the same, become a bit of a twitcher when it comes to birds of prey, always a sight when the buzzards and kites come over. When i used to commute to work at 6am, often used to have barn owl that would follow me for a bit and would always break off at the same field boundary, as if that was the e...

I'm lucky really most rides close to me in North Norfolk i will see a lot of Red Kites and usually a Buzzard, then as evenings draw in, a lot of barn and other owls. Strangely i was riding near Wells next the Sea a few weeks ago where i am friendly with the wardens (having been found sleeping in a h...
