Re: HT550 - 2024
Shout out to Zoe Chauderlot who I met on the Tour Divide. She was hesitant about this race as in her words she’s not really a mountain biker. But she’s right up there at the sticky end

Re: anyone experienced/owning the new Garmin solar units?
That's excellent Dave, thanks. I assume their mapping is Barter-approved too. I think I might just have to get one I'm hopeing to do the boundary of Britain at some point v soon and don't like dynamo stuff. Thanks Dave. I used Openfietsmap in Spain. In the Uk I’ll use the Garmin maps for road and m...

Re: anyone experienced/owning the new Garmin solar units?
I used my Solar 540 in Spain for 9 days and it never went below 80% even on 10 hour riding days. I took a Garmin charge and with that on its own I reckon I could have done the entire ride without power cord.
I’m totally sold on it
Edit: 5 of those 9 days were distinctly British in weather

MTB Wrist issue
I’ve stupidly done a long bikepacking trip with my right hand in a poor position. If you think “reving a motorbike” that is how I was holding the bars for long days. I’ve now have an issue with my grip. I find doing up zips very difficult, rotational movements are hard as well. I had to ask Helen to...

I ride with a Tooo cycling rear camera. It lasts for 8 hours and I’ve had 3 drivers prosecuted using it. In Devon we have operation snap which is great and they always respond to the real bad ones I upload

The original had a profound effect on me, I.e. doing the TD. Worried this might be flogging a dead horse though.

What is clear to me is that bikepacking is similar to wave theory. Its state depends on the observer. Theres an article in there somewhere

Many years ago I got a ferry to Cork with my bike a saddle pack. A plastic emergency bivy and a credit card. I had no pre booked accommodation. I found it on the way. I rode to the north with no flight home booked and no fixed route plan. So was this bikepacking, touring, credit card touring or stup...
