Re: Cheap(er) dynamo to USB power option
Has anyone tried one of these yet? http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/lumotec-iq2-luxos-u-led-headlight-63073?currency=3&delivery_country=190 A German bike tourist stayed with us a week or so back. He had one, the light was easily as bright as my Schmidt Edelux, it had a USB output and cache ba...

Routes around Haggerston Castle
I am heading off down to Haggerston Castle at the weekend with the family.
I tend to rise a couple of hours before the rest of them so fancy trying to find tracks nearby where I can cycle out for 20 miles or so. Anyone know of anywhere?
Cheers,

Re: Cheap(er) dynamo to USB power option
I have the Astro E5 (15000mah) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/15000mAh-Portable-Ultra-High-Capacity-External/dp/B00D5T3QK4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1399881992&sr=1-1&keywords=anker+astro+e5 Again it can charge and discharge at the same time. Not the most dainty but not too bad...

Re: Cheap(er) dynamo to USB power option
It might be worth checking out some of the Anker power packs. The one I just bought has two outputs, one at 2amp and the other at 1amp. So can charge 2 things at once and likely at 2x and 4x faster than the one you are looking at (assuming num is correct that it only has a 0.5amp output). The anker ...

Re: Coasts & Castles north (Sustrans) Edinburgh to Aberdeen
The section from St Andrews to Arbroath is mostly all good quality cycle path but there are a couple of sections between St Andrews and Dundee that goes onto the road and a short section on the same stretch that is a dirt track going past Tentsmuir - nothing too rough, I have done it on my carbon ro...

If you want to save space, I use my bar mounted dry bag and seal it half to three quarters full of air to make a pillow. Makes two uses for one piece of kit and is pretty comfy to boot!

vaguely exciting, thank you : )s8tannorm wrote:It's that straight forward. If I buy a pre built wheel with a shimano hub with center lock do I just need to fit a center lock 160 diameter disc to it and it will all magically line-up and work perfectly? Or is it much more complicated than that?

Re: Sinewave Revolution un-scientific findings
Can I hijack this to ask a more general dynamo hub question? I am interested in getting one to try having self sufficient power and have never used one before. The problem is I dont know if it will be compatible with my bike (fit wise I mean). I currently have Tektro IO mechanical disc brakes on a h...

Ray, would you mind sharing your gpx?
I will probably be back in that area in the summer and am always looking for route ideas (I have only done the inner-route and that was in a clockwise direction).

I would stay away from Halfords own brand! - Carrera I think. I do however like the boardman brand and have a couple of them - a carbon road and a hybrid. I also really like SRAM - the Rival and Red are very good sets. I would choose them over comparable Shimano because I am used to them and find th...

Jandd Frame Packs
Does anyone here have any experience with the Jandd large frame packs, this one here.. http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FFPL It seems like a pretty good option to add an extra 4L of capacity into the frame space at a reasonable cost. I was thinking of giving one a try but can not find revi...

I just use mine to follow a pre determined track by following the purple line. I did make the mistake once, when fatigued, of following the line when the view was zoomed way out which resulted in me being a fair bit out of my way before I realised I had taken the wrong fork. So always keep in mind t...
