Re: Hardtail with Alu frame or new bike?

Do you think I should change the front fork? Currently have recon gold 100mm but the lockout seems good. Depends if you want to ride with rigid forks or with suspension, for example a good rigid fork for bike packing would be http://salsacycles.com/components/fargo_fork/ but if you can't live witho...

why aren't the lines linear and what's the explanation behind the deviations at 155mm length?
There were 2 different pegs at length 155mm and they both had different strengths :-)

Re: Terra Nova Moonlight bivi question

Zippy, I have both. I find that the Moonlight is a little smaller than the Hunka - Narrower at the feet, and the hood (not sure if that's the correct name for it) isn't quite big enough to pull over. I'm 6'. It packs down a lot more than the Hunka, and is lighter. I'll take a photo of the two laid ...

Terra Nova Moonlight bivi question

OK, so, I started asking questions about the above bivi in another thread, but I have a few more so thought I'd start a thread. Questions: What do those people who've used it think of it? Is it any good? And how does it compare to the alpkit hunka interns of size, does anyone have both so they could...

Here's how I set up my sil tarp on the WRT, if I dropped the sticks at the front and shortened the guys, it provided much more coverage across the front

Looks chilly, and tbh, would probably give the same insulation as my £20 silk liner which also weighs only 100g :-)

Re: One more question please

Please excuse another thread hijack, but does anyone know breathable the TN Moonlight is? Is it as breathable as a hunka? I.e. would it be a comparable spec bivi?
I do love the borah bivi's, but I like the taped seams etc of my hunka

Re: Road/CX lightweight bikepackers - let's see 'em

My CX bikepacker has been shown here enough, but one thing to remember is quite how much a good cx is capable of, I run kenda kross supreme tires on mine for off road and there VERY grippy for a 35c tyre :-)
The day one looks a lovely bike, but why no drops?

I've given up on waterproofs. I'm now all about the keeping you warm when wet and drying quickly philosophy. It's taken a while, but I've finally got round to understanding and apprecaiting my paramo kit that very much does this :geek: That looks good though, sounds similar to pertex shield. Buffal...

At the WRT they had a bar harness, a double ended dry bag, a seat harness, and a sculpted dry bag for under your saddle, also a few smaller bags etc :-D

Re: How many people are running cages on their forks?

I have a decathlon strap-on mount and a Topeak cage mounted on the forks of my El Mariachi. It's been able to carry 500ml of fluid without moving. Have you tried 750ml on it? They look just the job for my narrow cx forks, and do you think that the grooves for the rubber straps would take a jubilee ...

What do you commute on?

OK, so I'm intrigued by what bike you all use to get to work/school everyday, I'm enjoying my cx atm but I'm considering getting a "nolobi" single speed for cycling to school and back, more due to simplicity and style than anything else :-)
But what do you commute on?

Pedal Advice

OK, so, I've given up trying to get to grips with my spd's, so I would like some large flats onto which I can put a toe clip Requirements are, cheap, no heavier than 400g and good when used without clips What do you think about these? http://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/m13b254s86p5380/GENETIC_Drift_Pedal...
