Re: Ti Stooge auction - respirator fundraiser
It’s a mk1.5 29+ frame with the plate chainstay from December 2015. Satin finish. Designed to be used rigid, but others on the forum have run a bouncy fork with it. The Ti Stooge has a lot of bikepacking pedigree, mine has done the Cairngorms Loop, Capital Trail and a US trip. There are several othe...

Re: HT550 over 7 riding days
I’d personally miss out the bottom loop, and start and finish in Garve. There’s a train station there, and you can get the bottom two loops done without being too knackered for the best bit - the Bealach Horn.

Got my renewal through - €199/yr plus taxes. They’re advertising €143 on their site. What a bunch of rip off merchants!

Re: HT550 over 7 riding days
7 days will be challenging. I did it in 7 days and 4hrs in 2014 on the mass start, and that was with mainly good weather and a fair bit of training. The first few days are relatively easy - even right up to Ullapool. You can get to Ullapool in 4 days, but then the pace will slow down with the big cl...

Re: valve core blocked
Keep the valve at the top of the wheel so the sealant flows down to the bottom. It shouldn’t escape as a result. Give the valve core a clean, as there may be some sealant solidified that is causing the blockage.

Re: Suggest a 'Do almost Any reasonable Bearing' press/puller
Ah yes, hammers get such a bad press.... but are so useful. And whilst bashing in a bearing using the outer race is the ideal scenario, sometimes you are compelled to bash one in using the inner race. With care, this is not a problem.... I’ve used the old bearing to tap the new one in. However I’ve...

Re: Do you own an unsuitable bike?
This is beginning to sound like one of those Top Gear challenges. Just set a budget cap. Say £125 (receipts must be shown/no upgrades permitted). https://www.argos.co.uk/product/6007870 Any bike(parts) that survive can be donated to a local bike charity of your choice. I’d do that, but set a lower ...

Re: Do you own an unsuitable bike?
I rode London to Newcastle on a folder, which was ace aside from road tyres on sketchy paths. Now I’m on a Brompton and it’s slightly more appropriate with wider tyres, but a pig to ride.

FS: Stooge Ti, Enve MTN fork, 29+ wheels
Hi there, Time to move on one bike to make space for another. 29+ Ti Stooge frame with Hope headset and a bolted seat collar. £800 Good condition overall, some marks from use but it’s a Ti bike so will clean up very nicely. I can throw in the current Shimano BB, or remove it. Enve MTN carbon fork - ...

Re: 'Prepping' What's that about?
Shotguns don't work very well against viruses (virii?) unless you've got very teeny weeny ammo, and viruses are probably what'll do for us long before the zombie killer apocalypse gets a chance... The shotgun is for the inevitable collapse of society when a virus hits. I’m not a prepper at all, but...

Re: Find me a spacer please
At Shand I had a load of spacers made for 24mm spindles (mostly for use on Fatbikes and Middleburn cranks). I *think* they were 2.5mm and 5mm. If you drop an email to fraser@shandcycles.com he might still have them and I'm sure he'd stick a few in the post for you. Also, I'm pretty sure Middleburn ...

Re: Find me a spacer please
I'm confused with what you need. If it's 24mm spindle (which the Aeffect is) then you just need a couple of standard PF30 BB spacers. Something like this : https://activesport.co/epages/80c85f8f-7a95-4b1c-9c30-e64b314f3f2e.sf/?Locale=en_GB&ObjectPath=/Shops/80c85f8f-7a95-4b1c-9c30-e64b314f3f2e/...

Re: Find me a spacer please
That’s a really good point. I was hoping that a spacer of the full width, against the dust cap, won’t load the bearings enough to seize up. The crank is designed to bind on the splines of the axle, but clearly it isn’t getting far enough as it’s loading the whole bearing instead. I noticed that RF d...

I have a similar set but they collapse inwards when you torque the whole thing up. I think I need something solid instead.FLV wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 5:43 pm If you want it to contact the inner race, not the outer race would 7 of these work?

Re: Find me a spacer please
I'm guessing if you had one you'd have to chamfer one of the edges to prevent it stopping the bearing in the shell from turning? I'm not familiar with the PF46 but would putting a bearing on work? 24x37x7 is a common size. Dont know if it needs to take sideways force I put a bearing in there alread...
