Re: What tents do you lot use

Terra Nova Laser Comp 1 for me. It’s a really really good tent, just under a kilo with bags of space. Comfort is important for me, so having lots of interior space is welcome.

Re: S*dding bearings

On the subject of bearings, I’ve just discovered the joys of a blind bearing puller. No more tapping around a bearing hoping for the best. Amazon have them from £22 up depending on the sizes needed.

Re: N+1 for Plus?

Fat bike good for fat bike stuff, although for better rolling then a 27.5 x 3.8” is a really good combination. I have this on the front of my Jones and it rides well. Full fat is better in snow though, the 4.8” tyre much more voluminous.

This just landed in my inbox from cotic:- https://www.cotic.co.uk/product/rocketMAX Quite a nice looking thing and the frames are now made just down the road from me. I guess my issue is that you could ride this through absolutely anything just by pointing and pedaling..... Do it! Support my local ...

Re: Ti repair - Picture added :)

Not a great day. Just found a crack in the top tube of my Kinesis ATR  No idea how it got there, is it repairable? How visible would the repair be? (If indeed it cn be repaired). Not an ideal time to be buying a new frame.... https://i.imgur.com/TSTw8Sx.jpg I have recent experience of Ti repa...

Re: Changing pads whilst out

I sadly lost my Leatherman Skeletool CX, which is an ideal trail plier. I’ve since replaced it with a Squirt PS4 which is a bit flimsy at times but generally well made. It’s also genuinely tiny so goes on my keyring all the time. Pad-wise, I bedded in four sets of pads years ago for the Puffer and s...

When did Tramadol become performance enhancing though? I had a course after some surgery a few years ago and suffered with nausea and dizziness, not ideal for riding? I have a couple of close relatives who take it, and it’s clear they’re off their tits on even one tablet. It’s really not the sort o...

Re: Trad Carradice saddle bags (user experience and MYOG related)

I had one for my Lejog and it was great. Attached to a Brooks saddle, I used the little rack as well for support, but in the end it fell apart (pretty much at Tongue on the north cost). Great bags for just chucking stuff in, and with the long flap it made stretching it for even more stuff particular...

...and we’re back. It turns out the weld wasn’t completed fully at manufacture, so it split where there was a gap in the weld. Luckily the wizards at Five Land Bikes have removed and replaced the weld properly, so it’s better than it ever was. Here’s a before and after shot: https://i.imgur.com/hGos...

It's about 4km East. English translation is The hangman's house :???:
It’s also slightly off the route, so probably not particularly appealing to the hardened racers.

Re: Microshift 10 Speed - No New Standards, No Silly Thin Chains Or XD Drivers.

The design appears to work with almost a straight cable run down the seat stay, reducing the need for a curved outer and thereby reducing the friction. The photo above has it on the chainstay so it appears that other methods would be supported. The issue with seatstay cabling is it has to cater for ...

Re: Houston... the miney has leeeeeft the building

Great news Shaf, thanks for sharing. I expect to have the Stooge Ti back up for auction next week, as a local frame builder (Five Land Bikes) is removing and fully replacing the weld. It will be a seamless job - in his words it won’t even look like a repair has been carried out. Helpfully they’re al...

Re: Ti Stooge auction - respirator fundraiser

OK, the full story. I found a hairline crack in the chainstay/seatstay weld, so obviously I can’t sell a frame like that, no matter the good cause involved. I need to ship it back to Stooge, who’ll then ship to their frame builder for a professional repair. So it’s not going to be a quick fix, espec...

44mm diameter, can’t remember the length but will find out when I pop out to my garage. The mk4 is listed as 150mm on the Stooge site.
