Re: WRT thank you
What a great weekend. After getting a puncture after 1 mile, found some great trails (and some not so great hike a bike sections). Bumped into Restless native and shared a pint and a great bivvy location. Tried to get to Hafren but the Sweet Lamb event stopped us. The marshals just wouldn't let us t...

Re: WRT GR are out!
Richard (piano tuner), that sounds like a great trip. Adding the WRT is a nice touch... I went to the pub with my fellow WRT companion last night and had a look at maps and plotted the route. Great way to build up to the WRT. Kit is laid out ready, I just need to see what I can get in my bags! Anyth...

Re: WRT GR are out!
Hi Stu and gang, First outing in this area of Wales and was wondering if any one could direct mail me some route ideas for the full WRT? It seems that it is coming out around 80 miles? I have a planning meeting in the pub tomorrow night but it would be good to see what other people are considering a...

Re: Monster Cross
Not tried wood choppers or wtb but like the luxy bar. Seems to be plenty of different positions and comfortable in the drops when off road.
Didn't realise they had been discontinued. Got them just at the right time!

My On One 456. In standard riding form and with bags attached. First bag fitting attempt so I am aware how poorly the saddle bag is fitted... http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8244/8602089751_63c3e5a073.jpg Leith Hill - On One... by Yeti Tony , on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8247/8628706144_8f3...

Re: Spring Photo Comp.
Dug out some old pictures when we first started mountain biking the other day and thought I would add this one. Coed Y Brenin back in 1997. No fancy trail centre back then, think there was a porta cabin though. Bought my first decent bike for £500!!!! A GT RTS full susser. I loved that bike. http://...

Re: Reveal the path ... what's it about?
Watched this the other night and like most of you on here felt let down. Too much sitting around talking about feelings and 'the path' and not enough locations or actual riding. Dont get me wrong, I like the emotional man in the wilderness, getting back to nature ramblings but this just went too far...

Ian, Unfortunately away then, hopefully in the sunshine. Definitely something I am interested in though for the future...Ian wrote: + If you've not seen Stu's post yet, have a look here: http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpBB ... f=8&t=1906

Re: Kit list for a Newbie
BRP, Ian,
You are correct. I had quite solid items in the drybag without much flex so it was hard to get it fully into the harness. Definitely something I need to look at. Will have a ponder on swapping around kit to make it more complient near the top.
Cheers...

Re: Kit list for a Newbie
Had a quick practice on packing up the bags onto the bike at the weekend. Went reasonably well with me getting most of my kit into them. I only have a 20 litre bag for the front. It is slightly large but will do for starters plus I think I can pack it down smaller. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8394...

Re: Kit list for a Newbie
Some great points I hadn't considered whilst reading all the threads. My kit list is increasing though because of it. Going to do a trial pack next week to see how it all fits. I think like people say, if it is a spare it is redundant. Doing my first night out on 13th April so that will be a steep l...

Kit list for a Newbie
New to this bikepacking, got my first night out in a couple of weeks and have booked myself on the WRT this year to throw myself into it. Started to compile some kit but interested to see what other people pack and in which packs so I can compare. Links to other threads would be useful as I am sure ...

Re: South East Bivvy in March?
Hey Zippy. Shall we pencil in Saturday the 13th April that way it gives me more time to prepare kit before heading over to Danbury. We can confirm meeting times and locations nearer the time. Doubt you will need MTB, we can piece together some of the flatter, drier routes to find a camping spot. Loo...

Re: WRT & BB 200 Entries Now Open.
I think there are a few of us who have biked, or camped, or toured (properly loaded), but not really bikepacked before... So you won't be alone![/quote]
Testing kit out in the next few weeks to ensure it fits on the bike and I haven't packed my entire house.
Looking forward to some wilderness!

Re: South East Bivvy in March?
Hey Zippy,
Great news!
Would a Friday or Saturday night be better for you?
As mentioned I can do two weekends in April if you have a preference?
Need to test out my tarp set up and how well my bike handles being fully laden.
Have you much experience of this bikepacking?

Re: South East Bivvy in March?
Planning a kit test night out. Just 1 night. I have the below dates available to do this: April: 12/13/19/20th... Plan to start about 5-6pm, ride for a couple of hours and find a spot. Camp out. Get up early and ride for a couple more hours and head home. If I'm on my own then will do it in my local...

Re: South East Bivvy in March?
New to the bikepacking myself, in the Chelmsford area (Essex). Just signed up to the WRT and need a couple of nights out to test kit etc. Would be interested in tagging along on something. Did the London to Brighton off road with the BHF a couple of years ago. Good ride but not the most exciting of ...
