Re: Other (associated) interests?

Plenty of rabbits I shoot them, we have millions, and they love the veg garden. I love night riding for the wildlife you encounter, and often, you can just see they eyes up ahead, but not what animal it is until you get up closer. Last night I saw loads of deer, a pair of badgers (near a huge set i...

Re: Ti bolts

Just a word of warning, make sure you have allen keys that fit really well, otherwise they will round out the inside and you'll have to drill them out. Speaking from experience here. Also, torque wrench reduces risk of this happening.

Tash = filter, great idea. Wonder if I can convince the wife I need a large "filter" when I do TD next year!

Re: When will it end....

Went for a nice long ride yesterday. Generally trail surfaces were good, but I must have climbed or gone around 2-300 trees down. And the general main annoyance was twigs getting jammed in wheels, a few in the rear mech, some in the disc rotors, several whipping my calves. Was still a lovely day tho...

Re: coffee on the go

I just bring a small bag of proper coffee (peruvian etc etc) and boil water in my ti mug, then take it off boil, add 3 sporks of coffee, stir, and let settle, within about 3-4 minutes, the grounds settle to the bottom, and you can drink. No faffing, no extra stuff to carry.

The postman hasn't been yet today, but he's been delivering parcels quite a lot recently. Result: Lurcher, carbon rims, hope hubs, 1x10 etc etc. Waiting for thick-thin chainring. That's all. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1676507/lurch-1.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1676507/lurch-2.j...

Re: Training thread

Thanks for those links James, will give them a read later on. Managed a short outing on my bungled together singlespeed. All parts I had lying about except for some rigid forks I got cheap. It's an old Kinesis Maxlight frame I bought back in 2005 I think. Super light, and the chainstays are exactly ...

Re: Training thread

Had an interesting ride today. After reading things on this thread, I thought I'd try a few things. I generally like to drop gears on a hill and spin, but today I decided to try not to drop gears until I had to get out of the saddle for a while and once I really had to, drop a gear. My cadence was l...

Re: When will it end....

It's not too bad here today. There's been loads and loads of damage. Our phone line is down (broadband is satellite based). Local beaches have completely disappeared. All the holiday chalets have been completely washed away at Branscombe, so I hear on the yocal grapevine. Gonna get out for a long ri...

Re: When will it end....

Everything round here is trashed, mainly all the mud has washed away from tracks, so they are now just bare stone. And round here, it's sharp flint. What tracks there are that don't have good drainage, are totally trashed by the horse riding toffs. I manage a good road ride in a 4 hours sunny spell ...

Re: Training thread

Ian, I saw your ride with Aidan on strava. Yeah, we have a lot of hills in Devon. for the last 6 months of so, I think I had been doing what you were doing, avoiding tracks/trails/roads that I deemed too much hassle! I went out the other day with a route that threw me at most of the steep roads arou...

Do it. It's a lovely part of the world. Better than doing laps for 12 hours too.

I'm gonna ride there the day before, camp, do the dash, then ride home. I guess us lot (I just tried to form a collective noun for members of this forum, it didn't sound too good) can meet up before/after too.

This is all fascinating. I've chatted with Composite a fair bit about his strength training, and it really seemed to have helped his climbing when we rode together on There N Back. I was suffering after a lack of riding over christmas with an injured knee. Since then I've concentrated on climbing, i...

I'll chat with my mate, he's recently started as head of product design at Finisterre, I'll see if they are planning on producing them again. Strange that they would stop when they are so highly regarded.

Re: Gaiters

I've been wondering about this, as my winter boots keep filling up with water and take an age to dry. I have some gaiters, but have never ridden in them, but walked with them a lot in the "summer" of 2012. Only real problem was that they get very hot. But mine are some cheapo ones, very wa...

I've heard great things about Finisterre Jackets. Ethically made, based in Cornwall. They have a sale if you can find a size that fits.

+1 to cringeworthy. It's about some blokes, riding bikes, and trying to ascertain some deep spiritual meaning to their sponsored trip around the world. It's crappy.
