Re: Kinesis Crosslight Pro6

Genesis has an integrated mech hanger though - that puts me off slightly... Reducing the amount of materiel to make room for a replaceable mech hanger worked out well for Kinesis  Touché  Edit, is that a cast ally part that's failed? Looks like it. This frame has only been in action since...

Re: Kinesis Crosslight Pro6

hmm - steel is half a kilo heavier than the crosslight - add in the forks and I'm adding a kilo which is not insignificant! (Although, I suspect they're a bit tougher, and I'd rather have a bit more weight as it's not like I race this bike...!) Keep the suggestions coming - I'm checking them all out...

Re: BB200 anyone done them all?

Not sure about Mike and Zippy? I didn't do the first 2, or whatever year it was where there was a huge attrition rate. Or last year because I couldn't get a place (and then cracked my ribs a week or 2 before anyway!). I've also turned down the place I got this year because my head's not quite in th...

Re: Kinesis Crosslight Pro6

So let’s follow up on this story… I had my original frame welded up (didn’t even lose a day commuting really!)…this was a short term measure but it kept me on the road for another month. Then it catastrophically failed riding into work around the bottom bracket area - work hardening I guess…fortunat...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

I'm still playing - need to catch up with the thread. Enjoyed your story about the escort Sean, good effort! The plan for August was to do the Lakeland 200 with a bivvy, main reason for the trip to the Lakes was to support my gf doing the Coniston chill swim (5.25 miles one end of the lake to the ot...

Re: Bottle cage mount repositioners

Ah I see your point! With bikes designed to such close tolerances these days, and I guess with CF you can design all the weave etc. to absolute optimums, any extra hole is gonna be a weak point, although a correctly drilled hole with a properly bonded rivnut I'd expect to work quite well - and certa...

Re: Bottle cage mount repositioners

Does the fact that the frame is carbon make any difference by the way? Very much so, don't do it... Just be careful which ones you select (e.g. https://www.gesipa.co.uk/products/blind_rivet_nut_technology/blind_rivet_nuts/blind_rivet_nuts_for_carbon_fibre_applications/) - I thought that's what they...

Re: carbon forks and tyre clearance?

Carbon is also probably the worst material for abrasion resistance (for a bike frame). I wore through a carbon frame at a 12hour race (only pairs) - it put me right off carbon and small clearances (it was actually the chainring bolts against the frame by the bottom bracket - and all stock components...

Nice write up Reg. You were local to me too

I know what you mean about nothingness, which in itself has it's own different appeal (to a point!). I did a festive 500 (strava here) incorporating a few of those places you mentioned - it was also misty then!

Re: Good deed for the day

Must be the time of year, I have a recent blackbird stuck in greenhouse story. I had a blackbird stuck in our greenhouse the other day. We leave the doors open a bit so the cat can get in and get at it's food (not my cat, I don't like cats). Turns out the blackbird had learnt there's food in there, ...
