Good ride and write up. It's a wet ride when it's wet!

Nothing for a long time has appeared from the postie. Not sure if that means I have enough stuff or what, but I feel like I should maybe start buying stuff again.....

Just make sure you're wearing full chainmail so no more body/knife interfaces! :-bd So true. Just checked the sharpness of that knife and it's a bit blunt. Makes sense why it slipped as I tried to exert too much pressure. Been using this and it's been fantastic. Good point RD, must stay positive. E...

Re: Winter Bivvy '24
Looking forward to something this year. I might be working in Scotland so might join those north of the border, or if I'm at home then a trip west... Or just a bivvy in the woods near me. 2018 was a bit of a classic - I think a bit of hangover is still lurking in my head from that. The riding and we...

Your trip sounds much tougher than when I did it. Well done and a great write up!
That's 3 of us who've finished the route now (you, Mike and me) and I think it's a cracking route either to do in one go or to dip in and out of.

Re: WANTED : Black 32 Hole Shimano QR 135mm Rear Hub 6 Bolt Disc
I have a brand new Novatec D772 QR 32 hole 6 bolt rear hub with Shimano freehub. I also have a used one (with damaged freehub seal). I think I bought the new hub as a source for the freehub, but then a new frame required a bolt through hub. With the hubs I can give (offload) 2 or 3 spare (used) free...

Re: Last month's run - a health warning PSA
Individually, none of your symptoms looked worrying - certainly I'd have crossed them off my worry list quite quickly, it's the whole episode when linked together that's concerning. Get well soon and take a rest from the bike - you'll be back in no time!

They must be better than the carbon / branded ones those lot up there are trying to offload.

I think some / many hatred based comments can be responded to with a "your comment says more about you than about anything else" type response.
If nothing it might make them think, but probably not as they don't do that...

I've been thinking about this, and it could work out better than expected..... If the Internet is true and the victim (the guy camping if there's any doubt) was on a charity LEJOG to raise money for the cancer charity that helped his wife, and he was wild camping so that maximum funds could go to th...

Blimey that's some serious 'no cycling' signage there at Burley Moor, way over the top... I have not seen anything as extreme as that before, very sad :-( https://www.bradford.gov.uk/environment/countryside-and-rights-of-way/access-on-ilkley-moor/ I can't see the signage, but if the no cycling sign...

Re: Tour Divide 2024
That's really crap about Alan P - hope a few days rest can allow him to start. As far as bikes go, I think the choice of bike isn't as important as the rider. There's not a lot of technical riding, there's lots and lots of washboard gravel, there's loads of tarmac, so it ends up being the best bike ...
