Re: 1 week to go...

Not contributed much so far but a quick question. If we leave the route to stock up on food-water-have a good cry etc do we have to rejoin exactly where we left it or are things flexible providing the distance is correct. Just thinking of the Premier shop mentioned on the other thread which only see...

Re: Look... BareBones Road!

Bare Bones Rd is not far from me, I was up there on Wednesday night, can't recall a sign but it was dark. There's also Hades Farm just down the road and it's not far from Upper Thong, fnarr and indeed fnarr. FLV if you're planning on coming over my way, PM me as I'm aiming to have a final shakedown ...

Hi Steve,
I'll have the rear mech if it's still available. I can pick it up at the BB200, shall I settle up with you there? PM me if not.
Cheers

Re: Squealing Front Brake

Just be careful when re-installing the bolts when you've taken out the washers. The bolt may extend too far into the fork mount. A cracked mount due to doing this is very expensive as it's a casting which can't be mended.

Re: On-One OG bars?

I was told by Brant that they were the same design as Carnegies, I've now got a pair of Carbon ones on my Van Nic and they are great. The finish is good and they are very comfortable. The aluminium ones they replaced were also fine but obviously not as light as carbon.

Re: is anyone actually training for BB200?

Yep. 50mls 1800mtr of climbing last Sunday, it's the night section and possible sleeping in a ditch that I struggle with so planning to do it with minimal stopping. The last 200k ride I did was in June and took me 7h 20mins, not sure if the Etape Du Yorkshire on my 16lb carbon road bike counts for a...

Dimensions should be posted on the On One website very soon, I run mine on a Van Nic Redwood 29er and they feel fine.

Re: Like Mary bars, but wider

The On One OG bar should be landing towards the end of this month, there's a Carbon one which looks the business at £80 and an Alu for around £30. They are just under 700 wide and have a good backward sweep on them. I've been riding the Alu ones for about 4 months and they are very comfy. STOP PRESS...

Re: Sinewave Revolution un-scientific findings

The light pictured is a Maxx D which has a stable output as it is not dynamo powered but has batteries. Therein lies the problem, pretty sure you need a buffer battery to even out the current flow but I'd be very happy to be proved wrong.

Re: Handlebars ... a statement about attitude and intent?

Managed to get my hands on the new On One OG Carbon bar today. It's just like the Carnegie which, given the designer, will come as no surprise. Don't all rush at once as they're not available for a month or so. Also available in aluminium for not much money. Don't hassle O-O as they have enough to d...

Re: Iditarod 2014

Looking like Aiden has had a shorter stop at the 350m finish at Mc Grath and started on the second third of the race with a 20 minute lead. Very fast conditions this year with not much snow but they are having to take a 30m detour to a bridge as a significant river isn't frozen.

I've got a particular interest in Alan Sheldon and Andy Heading's progress this year as I put the 2 On One Fatty's together that they are riding. Had to wash grease out of headset bearings due to low temperatures. They are using the new carbon fork and a 1x10 gear setup. Alan was very proud of the s...

Ruta/Camino Del Cid- Anyone have any info or experience?

I'm planning to try this route in the Summer, it runs between Burgos and Valencia in Spain but as this is over 500 miles in a straightish line, we'll probably just do 200-250 miles from Burgos then get the train back. It looks quite scenic and passes through several castles and gorges but I'm a bit ...

Having organised Trailquests in mid Wales for about 8 years, to be honest I had a few worries about the Forestry's reacton to this event. I had major trials and tribulations with the Forestry Commission, Forest Enterprise and all their other incarnations. Luckily I found one individual who was pro b...

If you filter it correctly you can tailor a route to the activity you want, the length you want, the difficulty, the area and there are still dozens of routes to look at. My exp...

This http://www.misrutas.net/RutasDe.aspx?orden=fecha&id=sinID&tipo=8 is a good site for routes such as the Ruta Del Cid or Camino Frances. If your Spanish is a bit rusty, just click on Rutas and then De Gran Recorrida (varios dias) which are multi day trips. I also swear by Wikiloc which has...

Re training, did 54 miles on the singlespeed on the 19th and 130 miles in 8 hours on the CX bike yesterday, still can't decide whether to do it on the 29er with Alfine or the CX. Thinking the CXer might be a bit harsh over 24 hours and fragile on the rockier bits. Shopping bike is definitely not on ...

A 4" fatty tyre is almost exactly the same circumference as a 2.25 29er tyre. A 4" tyre capable of fitting onto a 29er rim would have a diameter of about 31" of course I may be talking rubbish but I have spent the last 2 days building Fattys.

Ian, that's just after the Doethie valley track turn isn't it? How's the sod of a climb up from the Chapel on the other side of the hill, similar rain damage I guess.
