Re: 29er SS Inbred final complete!

Cheers Chew, I'm glad that i managed to get out even if the weather was terrible.. :) Hi tommid, I think I'll try a larger tyre then, I'll also set them up tubeless, I din't have time to fiddle around with that last weekend, so I can get lower pressures in them. The pictures aren't too clear, but I ...

29er SS Inbred final complete!

I've finally managed to scrape together enough money to finish my Inbred that I started nearly a year ago now.. And it's brilliant fun! First time at rigid, ss and on 29 inch wheels and I love it. Decided to go for some Superstar wheels after asking for advice on a thread a few weeks ago, as ...

Re: how many?

Three at the moment: Genesis Core 30 - General trail riding and messing around on. Inbred 29er SS - Almost finished, for bikepacking duties. 531 Handbuilt Road Bike - An absolutely beautiful bike. (I guess I'm biased though.. ;)) used for longer rides and lightweight touring. And it only cost me £50...

Painting/Spraying Forks

I have a set of Surly Ogre rigid forks for the Inbred 29er that unfortunately don't match very well colour wise (sand frame and the kind of olive green forks) and I'd like to paint them up black so the don't look quite so out of place. What's the best way to do it? I don't really want to bother send...

Re: 29er Wheel Choice

I'm fairly sure I'll be going for the Crests now after plenty of browsing and looking today. I'll take the weight saving over the extra durability of the Flows as this bike ought to see light-ish use (in terms of terrain and bashing), I've got the 26" hardtail for doing rougher stuff. And I'm k...

29er Wheel Choice

I have now (finally..) got pretty much all the stuff together to finish off my SS Inbred 29er. The only remaining thing to purchase is the wheelset. After quite a bit of looking around 'Just Riding Along' seem to be a reasonable choice. I've been thinking about XT hubs (budget won't stretch to Pro 2...

Gearing choice?

I'm currently in the (very slow ;) ) process of building up my SS Inbred 29er. And now I've got to the point of gear ratio choice and I'm a bit stumped. I'm aware that it's a personal thing as to what gear you like and what the terrain is like, but I thought if someone had to guess a gear to initial...

Rip in Alpkit Gourdon

I've managed to rip a small hole in my 25L Gourdon, I think from something sharp that was inside, and I was wondering if there was an easy way of fixing it. It's a little pointless as a waterproof bag with a hole.. :-S It's an 'L' shape with each side of the rip only being 1cm, am I right in thinkin...

Tyre choice help please..

Basically I need some help choosing a general bikepacking tyre for my new bike. I am as yet undecided between the Continental Mountain King, X-King and Race King. A few factors to consider: They will be used on a rigid 29er for general bikepacking use, which places rolling resistance as an important...

Hi Gairy,

Are the brakes still available? I'm interested if they are, does £90 sound okay?

Re: Ariège region France?

Just thought of a few more things.. You can tell I have a lot of spare time as a student can't you.. :D My Dad has been spending a lot of time over there, and in the Autumn in particular (September/October) the weather is a lot more settled. Fewer extremes of temperature. Pleasantly warm for most of...

Re: Ariège region France?

I spent 5 weeks in the Ariege last July/August with family and some friends, starting to build a holiday house. For the duration we all camped outside, I used a hammock for the whole 5 weeks without any problems. I didn't see a massive amount of the area, due to being hard at work most days, but I d...

Re: Inspire me with your freezer bag recipies.

A handful of porridge oats, tablespoon of milk powder (awful I know..), a teaspoon of brown sugar and some raisins or walnuts makes a pretty good breakfast. Just add boiling water and leave for a couple of minutes.. :) Rather similar to those sachets or pots you can buy, but they never seem to be la...

Wanted : Crankset / Fork

I'm in the process of building up an On One Inbred 29er and I'm on the look out for a few things, namely; A crankset (singlespeed) to fit Inbred. (Not looking for anything too expensive, on a limited budget.) If anyone has something lying around though, I'm willing to pay a fair price. :) 29er rigid...

Re: On One Inbred choice..

Thanks for all the input! Much appreciated. I'll probably end up plumping for the 18", it seems like while both will fit me, this seems to be a better choice. Thanks all. (apologies for the slow reply, bogged under with exam revision currently, and opening the internet is like opening a gateway...
