Re: BB5 or BB7
I might have some BB5s and levers kicking around in the garage if you're interested in a secondhand set? Let me know if you are timsellors@googlemail.com. Not sure if they're avid levers or old style XT. Personally, whilst I like the BB7s I have on the Gryphon I don't think they're as good / easy / ...

Re: Hammock........for a big un!!
DD hammocks (google). Tenth Wonder - do an XL, gathered end, no bug net - cheap and cheerful (find them on ebay). Hennessey - look at the US site for all the specs and then search for cheapest UK supplier - they do some big models ones for large/heavy blokes. Warbonnet are stocked (a little sporadic...

DIY stores like B&Q, Homebase, Focus etc (if I'm thinking of the same stuff). Usually on the same aisle as boiler jackets etc.

Re: Bikepack article in Singletrack
Know where FF's coming from about accessibility / opportunity. Got to admit wasn't particularly bothered by Cass' article but hey, there were plenty of others in that and other mags that haven't been to my taste. Just an unavoidable consequence of personal preference. I liked Benji's article near th...

STW's new look just reminds me of Howies catalogues.

Re: The post man's been ...
Interesting point. I guess it depends to some extent on the size they're making the "container" in the first place. The TQ I've got is certainly "patchy" in terms of there being an even and consistent amount of down throughout each channel. Maybe that's because it's new and not h...

Re: The post man's been ...
Nice. I have to go back round and pick up the one he's repaired for me (ex demo Woodman X). I honestly think it was operator error with the whole adjustable footbox thing and the amsteel line that was tying it up but christ knows! Whatever, in the very brief hang I had it seemed comfy enough and for...

Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
After a long day on Saturday I pussied out of a first hang this year in Dalby before trailbuilding and AGM on Sunday. In hindsight I'm glad because I arrived at 09:00 to snow on the ground and freezing conditions.

Re: Bivvy bag + rain = wet
I always thought they had the same DWR coatings as regular breathable cags. My old but (so far reliable) Phoenix bag beads, or used to. Like most DWR's they seems to wear off and are affected by dirt, grease etc etc. Check the manufacturers instructions but I imagine most rejeuvenation tips for cags...

TBH honest they look pretty much like the ones you see ukhammocks selling or on the tutorial threads from HammockForum.

Re: Sleeping mat in a hammock?
Again, not having done it myself, but all recommendations I've come across regarding air mats in hammocks is to under-inflate them. This is supposed to help them stay in place, under you.
Have you looked on Hammock Forums (US based site)? Loads of good info' on there.

Re: Sleeping mat in a hammock?
If it's a double layer and you can access the gap how about just putting a layer of the tinfoil / bubble wrap stuff in between? In theory putting it between the layer should keep it in place better than simply lying on top of it in your hammock. A slightly more bulky option is an "old-style&quo...

Does anyone else fiddel with string (splice)?
Man-a-live, been making guy lines, continuous prusik loops, soft shackles. Once I got the hang of it I started replacing the loops of cord on the tarp with spliced ones. Now my delicated little paper-shuffling office worker's hands are sore and I appear to have developed an unhealthy obsession with ...

Re: Recommend me some lightweight guylines please?
This evening I have mostly been learning how to splice locked brummels and bury the ends of lines. It might have been easier to start with something a little larger than zing-it :x I accept this isn't necessary and a few knots would have taken far less time. Hey ho, all I can see when I close my eye...

Re: Recommend me some lightweight guylines please?
Tbh I was looking at some of this to try as it's about a tenner cheaper than Zing It: http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk/products-page/climbing-equipment/throw-bags-lines-cubes/stein-skyline-dyneema-throwline-1-5mm-50m/ Having bought Z-It and 2 mm climbing shop cord there's a difference in weight and bu...

Recommend me some lightweight guylines please?
Thinking about more Zing It but wondering if folks had any recommendation for fairly lightweight guylines. Not a true weight weenie myself but seems a shame to add loads of weight to my nice new Superfly tarp, especially as it'll need several more than your average diamond or asym equivalents.

Bloody fatal when Mat starts showing his wares. Nearly bought an underquilt but settled for another Zing It ridgeline with Dutchware. Ridgelines rock.
Going to see how much it is for a roll from the States. Not found anywhere very cheap in the UK so far.
