Re: Rain Jackets?

I'm not in anyway trying to be be definitive but I've found Rab stuff is sized smaller for a given size ("medium", "large" etc) in their "alpine" stuff than their regular / walker orientated cags.

This may or may not be of any use whtsoever :geek:

Two (out of date) crepe bandages in the bottom of whatever pack I carry. Not sure if it's me taking a cavalier, apathetic or appropriate approach :?

Sounds like you're overthinkng it ;) All the tents I've ever done you just turn the fly inside-out and smear it over the seams. Leave somewhere appropriate to dry. No biggy 8-)

Re: Todays 'Bored in a barn' project.

Damn work-connection won't let me view photos. From my own experience with a ghillie kettle I've been surprised at how much better / more efficient good wood fuel seems to be compared to meths. That's despite one of Stu's "super-sized" burners to put inside it. To be fair the meths is anci...

Good spot Stu, was looking for something as an alternative to the Alpkit Filo. Fingers crossed the sizings not bonkers and the colour isn't too full on. but saying that, how long do you reckon an Inbred'll float for?
Given they're made of pig iron (whilst grond bikes in general, riding lighter, etc etc, blah, blah blah) I reckon all of a nanosecond ;)

Please ensure there's video

I have the mid length merino ones (2 pairs). They seem fine at keeping water out, so long as it doesn't go over the top and quite comfy (temp' wise). No complaints.

Re: Gone very quiet.

Been trailbuilding at Stainburn this morning. Weather is pants, cold and wet with rain that seems to hang in the trees waiting until you're sheltering beneath to drop down the back of your neck. Hope it's better for the riders at your end.

I hope everyone has a great time. I'd like to be there and put faces to names but various other stuff prevents it.

If my other plans work out I may end up strolling (heathen!) into the woods with a 7 year old and a hammock. That's much more innocent than it possibly sounds 8-)

I'm a great fan of Time. I tried Shimano and (it might have been bad set up) but my knees hurt. I had no more expertise when I fitted Times instead but I had no pain. So they get my vote 8-) They are, in the more affordable versions, pretty weighty if that is a concern to you. However mine (various ...

Re: Insecurity = Heavy Bike?

When you get back from a trip layout your gear and spot what you didn't use and why. There are variables (like rain / temperature etc) but it's a workable rule of thumb to help you identify what's needed and what's unnecessary extra.

Re: Adapted seat-bag

Looks like something you could do with Alpkit Drybags as well, given they have loops on the side that could be used for same strapping arrangement. Same roll top closure on top and there's a loop on the bottom that, witht he addition of a strap could do the frame / seatstays. Maximum volume might be...

I vaguely know the guy who was IMBA UK rep for Ireland. If you want me to put you in touch I can send you his details. Let me know. Ireland's bonny. Re: On One Inbred choice..

I suspect the weight difference between the two sizes will be, in the general scheme of things, irrelevant. The old 26" DN6 inbreds were no lightweights. Dunno if newer ones are better (doubt it). Nice ride tho. Can't comment on the specifics of sizing other than to advise buying the one that f...
