Re: XXL Bivi Bags without a taper
Borah Snowyside like Stu said. Bloke behind it was lovely when I dealt with him. I'd email and ask. Probably a bit ££££ given £ to $ and import lottery.

Re: drop bars set up on my fargo ?
I'm not sure but when i was scratching my head doing vaguely similar on my Gryphon folks on here told me my only solution was bar end shifters. And a rip-off wolf tooth derailleur extender. Working lovely though and was out on Saturday. I always thought bar ends looked shuffle and would be crap to u...

Re: End of an era - perhaps.
Sorry to bore you all. EIA can be a tool for good, real environmental protection. I'd be remiss if I didn't also admit it can also be used to scupper developments. All these surveys and assessments, whether you think they are appropriate or not, can put real time and money burdens on everyone invol...

Re: End of an era - perhaps.
I can't recall the Regs or schedules precisely but IIRC schedule 1 (or A) specifies particular types of dev eg power stations, pipelines etc where EIA is mandatory. Sched 2 is a more general list of categories but I think somewhere therein there is a pretty broad category of "any potentially si...

Re: End of an era - perhaps.
Getting a screening opinion of whether an EIA is required is a first step. There are consultant's who do this :shudder: I should say I am one who works in this general sphere though it's not my specialty. Screening determines whether the proposed scheme falls within the EIA Regulations. If it does y...

Re: End of an era - perhaps.
Ah what a PITA Stu. See if it needs an EIA, that'll make costs and hurdles at planning stage rather more challenging. Also, whilst you might be modest about what you do, I wonder if that very stuff would help show there is more to the area than just an unused space for some petrol heads to rag round...

What he said. Either is good, probably depends when you want to use it and whether with another light.

Re: Trousers for wearing post cycling on bikepacking
I've a pair of alpkit leggings with all sorts of pockets etc. Not very warm, oddly to me. Best things for doing stuff and using around "camp", particularly packrafting. Have several pairs of BAM leggings. Cut / sizing or my big bum makes them much more "legging-like" so leave lit...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
One for the runners...but heavily discounted Hoka's on Sportspursuit. Serendipitously I ordered a set of walking boots yesterday (Anacapaka so??). Was tempted by the high-top Speedgoats but the colour scheme, and some reviews, were a touch mleh. If I had the brass for both tho ...... Edit - ...

Re: Tent and sleeping bag recommendations
I sleep warm and am up for saving a bit of weight where I can but without being silly, I vacillated between the 150 and 250 and eventually picked the warmer one. It's easy to make a too-warm quilt cooler (stick a leg or arm out) and I think the 250 is the right warmth quilt for me (and probably lots...

Re: Tent and sleeping bag recommendations
You can make a summer or autumn bag work in winter with layers, liners etc. You can't make a winter bag lighter or less bulky. Buy the best bag or quilt you can that will do the average temps you'll be out in most often (bearing in mind whether you sleep hot or cold) as it'll be easiest to use most ...

Re: So this is who lights fires ...
Might be more useful to ask Al_H why he needed the fire in the first place? Easy enough to come up with some tripe about mental health or wellbeing or being mildly hypothermic or he just needed a picture for his followers Wowsers, that's a bit of a leap too, isn't it? Seems a bit tough on him if he...

Loving that response using deforestation to justify NGAS 🤪 Aye what a fanny - Simon - a response back - " yes the attitude of people who don't care about rainforests and will clear fell them for a fat profit is exactly the same as the attitude of people who will light a fire in the countryside...

Re: Speedgoats
The Saucony's I used were 7s :o However, unless the design has changed radically then you aren't comparing apples with apples. Peregrines were / are more like "proper" trail running shoes i.e. a low to medium level of sole thickness / shock absorbency. Meanwhile the Speedgoats are maximum ...
