Some great pictures, looks like a great trip. Your luggage looks impressively minimal, did you carry much food?

I don't tend to need 'pots', I drink from my ti mug/pot and eat from either a pour n store pouch if I have cooked fresh or directly from a dehydrated meal package.

Kinder Scout Solo Bivvy.
In an effort to keep up my 'at least one bivvy trip per month 2011', the late heatwave forecast and a free overnight pass from the family it was hard to resist this week:D Route- (Dark Peak District) 4pm Langsett CP-Cutgate-Winston Lee Tor-Win Hill-Jaggers Clough-Jacobs Ladder-Kinder-*11pm Bivvy*-Ki...

It's October and I can't believe that at 11pm last night I was getting my bivvy set up on top of Kinder Scout in shorts and t-shirt! Pics to follow when i get 5.

Re: Camp lights.
Petzl E-lite headtorch. 29g and plenty bright enough. One set of batteries lasts about 2 nights out, are quick and east to change and are very cheap to buy on Ebay. It's been used a lot for about a year and still seems in fine fettle, as with all Petzl lights the quality is great. Packsize is about ...

PD800 vs. Minim600- baffling results!
So now I have had chance to get them both on the scales I'm really quite shocked. I'm bored, here's my musings. Alpkit PD800, -18'C, £180.00, 1193g, 800g of 750fp (EU) down - fits in 8L drybag with good shove. vs. PHD Minim600 -16'C £305.00, 1038g, 600g of 800fp (EU) down - fits in 5L drybag with go...

Looks like you had a great trip guys, thanks for sharing the photos. I'm out in the peak district again on Thursday and Friday so I'll post a report too. My phone is finally back from being repaired so hopefully I'll get plenty of photos. Ian, is that edging tape I spy covering up the internal seams...

Montane Featherlite Velo H2O
I picked up one of these for £55 from ULOG as a present for my stepfather this week. I have to say I was pretty impressed. Even at the full price of £75ish it looks like a good 3 season waterproof, the seams are fully sealed and has a hydrostatic head of 1500mm, perfect for those rides where the odd...

Spd MO80 winter boot and Woolie Boolies.
Winter boots really transformed the comfort level, even goretex lined you still get damp feet but they stay oh so toasty warm.

Twas on OutdoorMagic. I don't very often look on there, but I just happened to be in the right place at the right time as I had only been dreaming out loud how it was on my wishlist a week or so ago. What was bizzare is that it turned out to be from a member that I had bought my neoair from not 4 we...

PHD Minim 600
Today I have taken delivery of a baby blue (perfect match for the Rab Survial Zone bivvy) PHD Minim 600 :D It's 2nd hand and there is the odd pulled thread but then it was rediculously cheap considering it's original £305 price tag when new. 10mins with the needle and thread and it will be good to g...

Re: Frame protection for frame bags.
I'm with Matt all the way, every scar tells a story. I love the battered look when it comes to bikes, this weekend I'm going to paint the back end of the Lynskey with my 3yr old using leftover tins of gloss from the garage. Probably do some potato prints on it. But then Ti frames dont rust and after...

Re: Anyone use a very small/micro tarp?
If you have drawn up the opening to keep snug, then breathing into the bivvy-bag can create a huge amount of condensation near the top end.
I'm suprised by how little condensation I have had in the TN Moonlite this year.

Re: Anyone use a very small/micro tarp?
Tried this twice a few years ago- http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q292/Cillit-BANG/Image023.jpg On the first night I though it was amazing, the best solution ever. Good views, light, tiny packsize, easy to pitch, uber cheap. Then on the 2nd outing it rained. I had exactly the issue of your concer...

I'll do a how-to thread once I can sort it as it really is the best style stove f...

Don't spend too long Stuart, it has been superseded by the new chimney stove :D Which I might add worked brilliantly last night, my 3yr old was chuffed to have his morning milk warmed by such excellence.

Re: Line-Loks v Figure 9's for guylines?
Good point Ian, I do like a bowline especially for when only one end of the cord is available. The loops were made back when I got the tarp in April so I suspect they will be well and truely knitted now! I keep contemplating lineloks for the tarp but it has worked fine all year without them so there...

Re: Stuff you've found when out.
No Lynx-can meths stoves though Stuart? You'd have to be an idiot to loose one of those after the 1st breakfast of a 2 night bivvy event :? I occasionally come across tent pegs, which just when you think you have found a special remote secret camping spot can be a dissapointment! I can on two occasi...

Re: Line-Loks v Figure 9's for guylines?
Actually Flatfish has a very viable reason for them. I camped last night and needed to run a guy around a wire fence, the figure 9's would be a good choice if you tend to use obsticles for attaching guys to. That said, for tarp duties I dont bother with anything, I just peg it out using a simple ove...
