Re: Biggest rideable climb in Britain?

i did the bealach last september in pissing down rain and 10 yard visibility at the top. would love to do it again in glorious sunshine. it is one hell of a climb and challenge. I found Great Dun Fell harder when I rode it recently, but maybe that's because I'm older and fatter than when I last did...

Biggest rideable climb in Britain?

I was musing about the Bealach Na Ba climb last night, and that the next time I go up it I intend doing the track that goes from the road pass at 626m up to about 770m. Seen as it starts at sea level (whichever side you attack it from), is this the most height gain in any completely rideable climb i...

This. My seatpack containing life-saving sleeping bag, bivvy bag and jacket was 1.2kg. Plans A, B, C...all involved not opening my seatpack.

My first dropper post. A PNW Components Coast dropper and Loam lever. Beautiful. As a suspension post addict I’ve never had the joy of a dropper but PNW have made an air sprung suspension/dropper. Genius. Now I can have my cake and eat it. I read some reviews about those and price notwithstanding, ...

Re: BB200 route.

Maybe if you're doing the 200 in much less than 24 hours, you should be doing the 300. Go longer, not faster... 😈 300 is the 2022 plan. I failed my previous 300 attempt; unfinished business but I had a personal need to re-validate my black badge before I went back to 300. I'd rather success was in ...

Re: BB200 route.

I agree that this was a quicker course than any of the previous ones I've done. As LR says, I felt/was well under-trained so went very easy on the climbs from early on and just kept on moving. My speed from about midnight onwards was pitiful but it wasn't zero. At the start I considered sub-24 to be...

Once I've got round the rebuilding my rear wheel with a boost hub for my new frame I will have a black Pro2Evo 32 hole with either 135 QR or 142x12 end caps and an alloy HG freehub (with the usual bite marks). Send me a PM if you're interested and I'll do some photos and talk price. Understand if yo...

Re: Bivy equipment choices for an uncomfortable night

Boab you've already over thought this. Firstly, don't take a mat. Secondly, you seem to be looking to spend some serious money on kit that for the vast majority of events you won't use. Thirdly, try and carry things that double up on uses. My sillylight bag is augmented by a synthetic jacket if I di...

Re: BB200 route.

Driving to work listening to the news this morning reminded me of one of the reasons I enjoy these and other hard rides: for those few hours whatever is happening in the world ceases to matter, just one linear timeline of effort, eating, miles and time.

First ride since 2018, revalidated my black badge with a 5am finish which was more than I could have hoped for with the preceding weeks inactivity.
