Forget the rum, you'd be better served by dry socks and a snorkel

Not personal experience because I'm a shortarse, but my beanpole riding mate swears by Decathlon stuff. Seems to fit well for him.

Re: Whats lighting your ride?

I've had a set of Ay-Ups on head and bars for years. They're getting a little old now but are still some of the best value lights I've ever used, so I think I'll be replacing at least one of the units and pairing it with the Exposure Equinox I got recently. Carry a Joystick as a backup, usually, and...

Re: I'd like some forks like these

It's a rigid Lefty with another bit welded to the front.

a) I'm not sure I see the point, and
b) I'm not sure I like it aesthetically

Only bonus is being able to change a flat front tyre without taking the wheel off...

Re: Smart Phone GPS Logging App?

IPBike is good if a little ratty looking. Programmed by someone I know, and if you have the hardware support in phone (or can get/use one of the Tacx dongles like I do) will connect to ANT+ speed/cadence/power sensors.

Duct tape can fix anything but stupidity, and in that case it can at least muffle the sound.

Re: First Aid

I've done a fair bit of what gets termed as 'aquatic' first aid, with kayak coaching and various other stuff. The REC courses I've done have always been easily worth the money, good balance of theory, practice and guided winging it. For wet incidents, few things beat gaffer tape, cling film and/or v...

Re: Nights drawing in - happy?

I like the isolation of night rides, even when you're with other people. You're sort of alone in your own pool of light*, hearing nothing but your own breathing and the crunch of your tyres. I like that. I even quite like leaving the office in the dark**, it means I get the trails to myself on the w...

Driving to the Lakes Thursday evening, dropping my MTB and some kit off at my folks, driving to Glasgow for lunch with a mate on Friday, picking up another mate and driving to Ardrossan, leaving the car there, evening ferry over to Brodick, ride up to Lochranza YHA for another mate's 50th weekend. Re: FS/Swap: Large AK Possum

Hey up, sorry for the delay.

The curve across the base is quite even, so the tallest point is around the mid point, rather than off to either side of centre. It's a gentle curved base rather than being triangular as such.

Hope that helps!

Helmet: Always*

Also always wear full-finger gloves, after one too many "It's hard to brake without fingertips isn't it?" moments after crashing.

*Only minor exception is the tiny stuff-checking rides around the turning circle in our cul-de-sac while fettling things.

Like I say, it's a tight fit on a 54cm X (53.6cm top tube and skinny steel tubes). I reckon 56cm upwards it would be a good fit.

SOLD: Large AK Possum

Playing with various bits of kit in the garage last night, and this seems the most logical thing to do... I bought a large black AK Possum frame bag off here about a year ago, 'Son' was selling it as it was a bit too big for his needs, and I've come to the same conclusion. It's a tight fit on my 54c...
